More maintenance related than anything but my steering rack bushings were starting to make a lot of noise & bugging the hell out of me so I got new Energy suspension poly bushings ordered yesterday, cant wait to get rid of the stock soft noisy ones!

    First off, Nice truck!

    Tell me about it.. haha

Yea my rack just started leaking. Now I am trying to save up some money for a new rack.. Wish these things weren't such a problem for our trucks.

So I think I finally decided what L/T kit I'm gonna go with for the front, I'm thinking the SOLO Motorsports XLT Series kit, manual locking hubs, 9" wider & 19" of travel. Now to get the funds to pull the trigger on it:stirthepot::goingcrazy:

I spoke with them earlier this week & they said they have it for both 1st & 2nd gen Tacoma's but they're still working on the website so its not in the 1st gen section yet. Maybe he was wrong, but ether way im pretty sure I'm going with Solo motorsports for the front.

So I found out this weekend that it starts eating the bedsides long before its fully flexed, Bedsides or cutting is a must! Just gotta get the funds...Click for full-size image (1024 x 576)

It has a lot more flex to give though...& she threw a CEL last night on my way home from dinner, Going to get it scanned after work today. Only other time it's ever thrown a CEL is when on road trips to snow states using there winter gas & was giving a faults error code for an O2 sensor. So I'm very curious as to what this CEL is. On my last truck (2000 Ram 2500 Diesel) you could check the codes by turning the key in a cretin pattern, is there any way to do that with these trucks?

I've seen it done, just don't know anyone that does it or can do it. I could probably hold of on the bedsides for a while if I could get them pulled with a little trimming. Don't know if its something a regular body shop would do or not.

I think most people just cut the bedside supports, then get a bottle jack and piece of wood and jack out the bedsides a little until they are flared and then weld in new supports. Sounds more difficult than it really is but there should be a video on youtube I think or probably a post on dezertrangers. Could probably keep you from buying bedsides for a little bit, they're pricey!

edit: at the same time something to consider is that you can sell your current bedsides to offset the price of fiberglass since they're in good shape but you probably wont get much money for them when you pull them.

You definitely can make it look sleeper.
But it's all in what you want in the end result.
As a prior built truck owner, I love sleepers.
    yep!
and this VV from what i have read it is easy to do your self. i wouldnt pay a shop to do that personally.
Bad thing is, first gen bedsides you have to cut off to put fiberglass on, so you can't really sell them....
