Grew up in a small farming town. Every farmer puts there boots there. Especially in winter when it rains 24/7. Keeps the cow crap and mud out of the cab. Keeps the rain from filling up the boots in the bed.

This is more related to folk that clearly don't get dirty or actually use the boots lol. I understand the intent.

If you ever have a job where you might put them on and take them off 20 or more times a day you'll understand the utility of that spot and why that's where we all keep our rubber boots.

So ur saying u understand the reason boots go there for those that use em.

Your questioning the non calloused handed, clean finger nailed, "ewww mudd" new age kids?
    Is this really a fad?
Its not the sign of a working man/woman anymore?

Is this like lifted trucks on muds that never leave pavement?

U sure the kid didnt just get a new truck and someone hooked him up with new kickers like a housewarming present?

    Actually no

Honestly for those types of jobs I have a shit truck to beat up and just wear them in the cab, that truck was a '97 F-250.

No reason to use a new truck for that, plenty of beaters for that.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
You know its perfect so you can grab the shit covered soles to retrieve them. I grew up on a 782 acre farm and we used you know, farm trucks. New trucks sit in the garage until Sunday morning.

I don’t care if I’m 7 years late. Common sense would say it’s easier to grab them from right behind you without stepping out of the truck. You want to put them on before your feet hit the ground, not after. Grabbing them out the bed usually requires you to step out of the cab.

In Hawaii it's not boots, it's body surf fins.

I keep my catfishing boots in the bed, their not wedged between the cab and bed, but Im not dragging river mud into my truck, so they sit in the bed.

Common sense would say keep the cow shit (or whatever else the use case) out of the cab of your truck. If its between cow shit in the truck, or stepping out the truck in crocs and putting on boots outside, well.. thats an easy choice.

We get it, it doesn't make sense to those who have never had a reason to put them there. And thats okay.

I work construction in Florida my guys do this all the time because if you have to get out and it is muddy or you have to walk in a swamp, you don’t wanna bring it in your truck so they put the rubber boots like that behind the cab cannot bring all that filth inside the truck. after all we do have company trucks

this is nothing new in our field.
