Best boots I've ever worn are the Montrail. I am however saving for the Lowa Tibet or Ranger. I almost always have feet pain so need really good supportive boots.

i always wear my boots that i wear for work (military) bates side zip with durashock sole

my dad does maitenance at the port in texas and he is always on his feet and needs the good boot with good protection, and before that he was a mechanic for big rigs...he always wore wolverines...also with the durashock sole, any boot you get, i highly recommend the durashock sole...saves your feet

BLACKHAWK! they feel like a mix between a sneeker and a combat boot they are light fast and have no metal in them which makes them good for airport security.

Just bought a pair of Ariat "Heritage Ropers" for $110. I love them, extremely comfortable and they look awsome. I have received many compliments on them already. If you are looking for a good pair of boots at a great price at least give these a look and try a pair on, you will be glad you did.

    getting there....
im a bit late to the party....but the boots i buy....i try to keep for as long as i can and get the wear outta them. for hunting...i have some irish setter deer trackers....very comfy boot and have lasted 3 years so far...still look new. for work......i used to wear steel toe...but after a while...they get aggravating(to me anyway) and after a long day of standing...too uncomfortable...so i bought some rocky rider lacers and they have been great. very comfy, and they wear well. for hiking....havent done it much at all in the last few years, but when i did it alot...i would wear new balance hikers alot. they seemed to last a good while and werent too expensive.

    Danners are good.

    Meindl make absolutely AMAZING boots.
These are bar none the best boots I have owned and will last for an exceptionally long time.

    http://www.meindl.de/english/

Both of the above that I listed are going to run you close to double what you stated you wanted to pay but I have been through countless pairs of boots in the $80-$150 range and you really do get what you pay for. I would suggest if at all possible try and save up a bit more and spend double the amount you suggested (I know it will be hard to do) and trust me it will pay off many times over in both comfort and longevity.

If you are really set on that price range give the Danner factory store a call in Oregon and they sell really good boots that are cosmetic seconds. Most of the time you could never find the reason it is a cosmetic second and you can get a $250+ pair of boots for 100-150.

Check out the Danner Mountain Light II
