    Okay. Some good and bad.

Picked up what I think is the last remaining pieces and steel needed to finish the main bumper and swing outs.

Also got this from CBI. Nicely made. However...

This dual can holder does not fully work with Scepter MWCs. The MWC is too tall to allow the lock hole to be used and the top cover does not clear the pour spouts nor the vent caps. This is EXTREMELY frustrating because I asked CBI specifically if this works with Scepter MWCs, because of the spouts, and they said yes.

Now that I have to mod it to fit what is, in my opinion, a very common water can, I'm much less excited about their work. Bummer. An expensive bummer. Don't worry, I'll be letting them know.

I know you mentioned it in the OP without much detail but what are your plans for the tailgate since the spindles wont let it open down? Looking at doing a single swingout but similar to yours, with the spindle in front of the tailgate and not the tail lights. Curios to see what you will do. I have an idea but would like to hear yours.

The tailgate goes bye-bye. It will be replaced by two drawers and two doors to our camper. Doors above, drawers below.

Camper shell, but full custom...same with the drawers. I want to be able to open the drawers without opening the camper doors.

Yeah, I modded a spare MWC lid to use a marine hand pump (been done before...just followed suit!). It's our cheap "on-board-ish water supply".

No sweat. One project after another! Some day we'll actually take another trip in this thing. I'll have to replace all the tires because of rot, though! Haha.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm hoping to get the main bumper off to powdercoat early next week so I can leave it mounted to the truck (and drive the truck!) while I work on the side wings. They'll bolt on like sliders...should be cool though I haven't figured it all out just yet. I'll do that on the fly.

    Getting after it today!

I cut all this stuff this morning. This is for the Water can holder.

Then I did a bunch of welding...

Tacked together a stand that I can clamp the bumper to so I can work on the swing out clamp details...

    cd1e4cd3a34fcfe0f347f442e6da48ad_5a8d62e37071f8123f08a470abc7d6596f603559.jpg

Now I'm here! Excited but also a little bummed. I feel like the water cans should be about 2" lower. The lower the better...without being a part that drags off ledges or sharp transitions. Ideally, I'd never have to load/unload a full water jug but it's more than likely I will for some reason.

I'll probably move on with other stuff on the bumper then come back to this after a few hours or days. Haha

Did more stuff today. I made a punch list of stuff needed to get this main part of the bumper done and on the truck. I divided the punch list into days of this week and set about getting it done.

    Tonight:
    296b65bd446d8e6328e45f81a1eb5c5a_94f65e373ff58e293c344394688b3b6fe5f8790d.jpg
Cut this off. Really bummed me out because I cut through 4 of the nicest welds I've ever laid! Oh the horror!!

    e50b2c19e8111c603ef1ab55f3dc65c9_5ffef3e0a714f5ba004174ee06d5b68a64507406.jpg
Then I put it all back together...2" lower. I also added the flanges that the can carrier will bolt to. Drilled the necessary holes and now it's good to go. I still need to add the diagonal round tubing braces...or brace. Not sure if I'm doing one or two.

Tomorrow is set aside to deal with the can carrier. I've decided to mod the one I have rather than wait for CBI to come up with some sort of solution. Ain't nobody got time fo dat! I'm going to cut the center divider out, move it up the appropriate amount and weld it back in. I will likely also have to put a spacer under the top plate where it contacts the can handles so it doesn't interfere with the pour/vent spouts on the MWCs. Sucks to have to spend the time on this. If I knew they didn't work in this carrier I would have probably bought AT holders as I KNOW those work!

Thanks! I still have to clean up the ends on those angle brackets and that flat plate. I'll put some nice angle cuts on the ends and radius the corners. It'll look good.

Update from CBI: They have no idea why my MWCs don't fit. They have customers using these cans with their holder without issue. So, I'm going to chalk this up to me being me. I ALWAYS have the weird situation or the oddball when I buy stuff. However, I'm willing to say that CBIs holder probably works with other MWCs. My cans are 20 years old (stored in garage and never taken into the sun). Maybe they changed them slightly over the years? Anyway, I have 6 of them so modding this holder should be fine. I have enough of these specific water cans to last the rest of my life! And, yes, I did check to make sure they were all the same size. Unsolved mystery...or Accepted mystery. Either way, the can holder goes under the knife tonight!

I should also mention that CBI did offer to ship the holder back to them and they'd do the mods. That was cool.
