Do like me and get a slow-ass, mid '70s Honda. I swear, every bike I get is slower than the last one. Maybe it's something to do with turning 30.

I had a heavily modified R1 when I was in my early 30's, and I sold it after a friend of mine clocked me at 184mph. I figured if I kept it, I'd probably end myself eventually.

Yep. Even when I was riding at 20, I would run through scenarios in my head. It paid off when I finally had to dump a bike. I came out with only a twisted wrist. Could've been much worse.

yeah i think watching crashes and races, and going to the track, helps with those emergency situations

I've been looking for a Honda CB twin for quite some time now, they are too expensive or trashed though. Even a nice early Nighthawk would do.

This reminds me of a picture of my niece picking up her cat and hugging it's neck so hard the cats eyes are bulging. You could tell she loved the cat but the cat was not happy/breathing.

    Just saw this, seemed fitting.

Also - Who remembers Fival Goes West? Anyone? Our sunset tonight reminded me of it.

I love Fival Goes West. I might get to see John Cleese speak Sunday. It's unlikely I'll make it though.

I used to buy them on craigslist for $200 and flip them for a little profit, then they became the rage and I was selling them to cityfolk for a BIG profit. I kept one, which is sitting in my barn (as they do). Debating selling it and getting something modern.

That's exactly what I wanted to do but all the ones on craigslist are already marked up cause of a cafe style seat and bars.

BINGO. I kept the stock seat. The previous owners swapped bars. I replaced grips, carbs, battery, tires, removed fenders, new Dunstall exhaust, airboxes removed, bar-end mirrors, mini gauges, new plugs, new engine bolts, new chain, Dyna ignition booster. I probably did other stuff too. I have all the stock parts and it can be returned to stock with a day's work.
