This. We had our last one a year ago when I was 36. Big difference from our first when I was 29... Way less stressful now because I know what to expect. However, I was way more tired with the last one. Having newborns is a young man’s game.

 

Baby #1 - Sleeps in same room as mom and dad.
Baby #2 - Sleeps in separate room with baby monitor turned way up.
Baby #3 - Sleeps in separate room with baby monitor at normal volume.
Baby #4 - “Honey, is the monitor working?” “Meh. If something goes wrong, we can always make another. I think we got that part figured out.”

Its funny you say newborns are a young mans game... I wasn't proud of it at the time but a 3y/o and a newborn at age 21 made me miss a lot of cool shit growing up. I made it thru though and just sent one off to collage a couple of weeks ago and hope the other one follows in her sisters foot steps.

Being a single dad with custody of my children for 5ish years before I got remarried meant lots of beer after my daughters when to bed. I can remember lots of days waking up after a few hours of sleep and charge thru the next day. I can still run on about 4 hours of sleep but not for a big run of days like I use to.

Here's to all the dads out there that make their kids the #1 priority

 

Kudos to you Patrick! That's some bad ass shit right there. I'd like to think that I'm the same way, but SHIT, I got nothing on you sir.

I try my hardest to make my kids my priority. I bolt out of work to pickup my son from Daycare ASAP, so I can spend time with him. I even volunteer to pick up my daughter from my in-laws since they watch her, instead of waiting for my wife to get out fo work and grabbing her. Get home, play with them, set up for dinner, clean up, play some more before bedtime. It's a hard job, but they definitely are the priority.

 

No kudos needed its just the hand life dealt me. Thank you though.

It will be fun to see all my friends struggling with kids in the 7-16 year old range when both of mine will be graduated from high school and I can enjoy a few more drinks alone but not at 10pm HAHAHA

 

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll admit I'm one of those alone 10pm drinkers... after the kids go to sleep, and after a long day at work, I need some "me" time. Get a nice craft beer, sit on the couch and enjoy it.

 

The last winter as a man under 40. By the time I pay my taxes I'll be 40

The other night, I put my son to sleep and the wife put the daughter to sleep like we usually do... we've had this wood play kitchen in a box waiting to be put together for about a year. I finally decided to do it. I was up until 1am doing it because I didn't want to stop and leave it undone so the kids could play with it the next day.

I just paid off my student loan today!

I owed $15k in 2004 with a 1.75% interest rate.

I did not do a single early payment.

That is some cheap money. I kind of wish I would have taken out like a $100k and bought some Amazon stock. Oh well.

No more $100 monthly payment. Ha

 

Morning old folks.

Had a pickup soccer game last night, and have a co-ed league final tonight.

By tomorrow night I'll be dead and barely able to move. AWESOME!

Good Luck! It's hard to tell if recovery takes longer these days or if I'm just not as active as I once was. I keep getting this crazy idea that I should do stretches daily... doubt that will ever happen.
