I love the 80's hair and thrash metal. The 90's grunge was awesome as well! I still listen to quite a bit of it myself...

A semi funny story that the 30's crowd may find amusing...

I am not sure of the year but back in the early 90's, my cousin had 2 Nirvana tickets for Worcester, MA I believe. He was going to go with his girlfriend but she dumped him that day. So he asked me if I wanted to go, I was getting into the grunge scene pretty heavy at the time. Of course I wanted to go!

However, I was still pretty damn young and my mom wouldnt let me go (she was right, I was in all honesty I can admit I proabably was too young. Not to mention, my cousin was a bit of a an assbag) I remember her saying to this day and I quote...

"That Nirvana band is getting pretty big. Its not like they arent going to come back."

Well, we all know how that turned out, dont we?

My monther is very cool but I still give her a hard time about that to this day...

Growing up I didn't really own any tapes and couldn't record from the radio until around my 13th birthday, so I listened to vinyl. Neil Diamond, Beach Boys, stuff like that, lol. I was fortunate enough to like Michael Jackson while it was still cool.
I listened to a bunch of embarassing stuff until Nirvana... just getting to the point where I could go to a concert and someone has to die. Got into Metallica after some more embarassing stuff and what do they do? They release Load. :( WTF.

Here's the embarassing stuff I listened to that I can remember:

I remember when we all turned 17 and Guns and Roses was in Tacoma Washington at the Tacoma Dome.....only one of us had a license....ROAD TRIP from here in Eugene Oregon to The Tacoma Dome which is ....5 hour drive?? Anyhow...I loaded my "GhettoBlaster" in the Honda Civic with my gigantic Tape collection and 100 batteries for the damn thing and we went!!!

Was a good time for 4 17 year olds and we went to Seattle to visit my buddies older brother. He bought us all Copenhagen and a case of Olympia beer.

Opening for Guns that night was a brand new band by the name of Skid Row......damn could Sebastian Bach wail  badass!!!

My neighbor had the Simpson's Sing the Blues on CD. I swear I had better Rainbow Road lap times when I listened to that.

I'm 31. I purchased this Soundgarden album at the concourse mall in the World Trade Center around 1995. I think it was a Borders store but I cant remember for sure. Still and awsome album, but I've since converted it to mp3. I still have the disc but the sleeve is long gone.

Superunknown was an amazing album, I must have played that CD a thousand times. The one that really changed my perspective was Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins. Those crunchy synth guitars were eye-opening.

I'm 1981, so I just barely made it. My criteria for a gen X er is you have to know what He-Man, Thundercats, She-Ra etc.
