CPS failure recall is determined by engine assembly date, not engine installed in your truck "born on date".

When I ordered my truck I was sent the week of build; you poor "off the rack / what's on the lot" are limited to month and year in the doorjamb sticker.

Mine rolled down the assembly line the week ending 10 Feb 16, loaded and delivered to my dealer and purchased 24 Feb.

Yeah, all I got is 09/15...on the door jamb..! So close to this recall, but I've got "0" issues, so I suspect I've just missed the bullshit..!

Then your engine was probably assembled prior to the recall period. Engines listed were assembled 9 /15 -11/15 if I remember correctly.

One of the minor benefits of special order, weekly status updates but the wait for any movement at first was hell. You have to wait for the plant to tool up for your particular build.

    Ilike my way better:

keep you truck till it finally croaks, and then buy whatever the dealer has on the lot that day, keep that truck going for 20-30 years, and repeat....

If I did that I wouldnt be in a 3rd gen now as I'm still waiting for the previous truck to croak.

Ended up selling it to my son instead but he didn't take delivery until I did.

Cool. Nice to know ya. I was a comm. in the Air Force in my previous life. I spun a lot of wrenches as well. Now I am embedded engineer for a global, big box retail supplier. I know the root causes of a lot of the programming/mechanical issues with the Toyotas. They rushed this truck out the door and made a few big mistakes. 2018 will likely have them rectified.

Well I "plan" on keeping my truck for 30 years....that being said, let me quote one if the giants if modern philosophy, Mike Tyson:
"Everyone has a plan 'till they get punched in the mouth."

    Love that quote!

    I'll keep you posted...lol

Yep along with a more suitable transmission map for more people to like.

I haven't had any problems yet in 18 months but I did have to adapt my driving style to the transmission to get the best results for me. Some aren't as patient as I am with the truck but then after 30+ years of driving Toyota trucks, I've become used to their strengths and weaknesses. Blinders were removed a long time ago.
