There seems to be some confusion on the proper sensor for the 2000 Tacoma. Along with going to coil-on-plug, there was a mid model year switch to a wide band O2 sensor, or A/F sensor.

The correct A/F sensor is Denso 234-9001 (auto trans) or 234-9002 (5sp trans). These typically cost twice as much as the older O2 sensors. Though in doing some research i saw that there is a compatible sensor: Bosch 13613.

Even my parts counter was confused on this and tried to quote me for the wrong sensor. They quoted me the Denso 234-4162, which is the previous pre-2000 O2 sensor, and is not California emissions compliant. This resembles Denso 234-4168, which is the downstream sensor and is differentiated by a longer cord.

Amazon has both of these for $90-100, though i just ordered a new Bosch 13613 from an ebay seller for $50 shipped.

Has anyone tried both? Have any issues with going with the Bosch part instead of the OE Denso?

bosh "anything" stuff never seams to work well on these trucks, I would stick to denso or asin since they are the oem brands

I think the later models have heaters in the sensors and that is why they cost more
