If you want a 4x4, the wife is saying get it, then I say get it! I was 38 before I bought my 1st 4x4 (2007 Tacoma DCSB Sport). I had always wanted one, but couldn't justify buying one. Finally decided I didn't need to justify it. I wanted it, I could afford it, wife approved - Done! Only regret was waiting that long to get what I wanted!

Life is too short, if you want it and can afford it - GET IT!

The last four vehicles that I have owned (not counting wife's cars) have been 4x4. With each one I have rarely had to use the 4x4 but sure was glad I had it when I needed it on those rare occasions. My concealed carry instructor told me that it was better to not need it and have it than to need it and not have it. I guess I think of a 4x4 in the same way.

If I had a year left to pay, I wouldn't think of trading it in.

    what was OP's decision?

If it were me and the wife only wanted it because she wanted to drive a monster truck and he didn't really off road I would keep the pre runner that was almost paid off and spend the extra money on tons of bad ass mods and just lift the shit out of it. So much easier to lift the 2wd and not worry about the whole front drive line and CVs.

    That's quite a post-bump you've got there.

But hey, it's about time for the original poster to come back and tell us what he decided anyway.

If I were you I don't see the need to trade up. If you live in a climate or do a lot of off roading then I could see getting 4x4. I would also look at the money that you have in a truck that is going to be yours free and clear in one year(also the money you lose for trading that you already put into it). I don't know if I would want to do payments and what not all over again just to get 4x4, don't seem worth it. Also the money you save once you pay the truck off all can go towards mods.

Tell the wife that "TW is way better than Facebook".

Didn’t realize this thread was brought back up.

Decision has been made and will be going with the OME setupwill 2” AAL with LR ucas. Also will be ordering the 16x8 raceline raptors withthe 265/75/16 BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO. Will these size tires do orshould I get a different size. I have read and search on pre-runner sets(spindle lifts, bilsteins with different coils and so on) and if I have missedanything please let me know before I order on Halloween day. Thanks

    4" spindle lift and S/C it....then you'll have a whole new truck.

i would get a 4x4 and if its almost paid off the majority will go towards the 4x4, if you wait later on down the road and need a 4x4 your trade in wont be as much. So i say get it while you can
