Its a plug and play kit. Uses factory wiring harnes

FYI - was a blown fuse. Dbags tried getting me with the $55 diagnostic and I told them I never agreed to a diagnostic prior to and they needed to consult with me prior to running it. They didn't and tried slapping me with a $65 bill for 2 $.70 fuses. 5 minutes of explaining to the guy how to follow directions they waved the fee. Though i will be looking for a relay kit to run to the battery as opposed to factory wiring harness here shortly.

Well atleast that was the issue and not something worse. I would def contact the seller of that HID kit first and see if they offer an optional relay harness for it. If not, I would be hesitant to throw someone else's relay harness on there unless you know they have good compatibility as it would suck for the relay to not have the right limitations and still smoke your stock fuses.

as a standard... if something electrical is not working.. always check the fuse first.. thats first culprit..

also please put a relay kit.. and get a better hid kit like morimotos.. those chinese ebay kits do more harm than anything.

So, you put in garbage HIDs, didn't use a proper harness, couldn't be bothered to spend literally 30 seconds checking the fuse yourself, and got upset when the dealer tried to charge you a mere $55 for diagnostics? Talk about being an unreasonable ass.

You're not paying that $55 for the 70-cent fuses. You're paying that $55 for the decades of experience that analyzed your problem, confirmed it, fixed it, and ensured you didn't fuck up anything else on your truck.

I question whether they really confirmed anything more than toasted fuses, but Im biased towards Toyota service. You might win the salty award for the day.

Probably not, but just having a mechanic look under your vehicle is worth something. If the OP came in and said "I want you to replace my headlight fuse," that's a 70-cent job. If the OP said "my headlights don't work, please fix," that's a diagnosis job.

Yea you do got a point. Considering it sounded like it took more than a few minutes I could see that. Well hopefully OP learned where the fuses were, I would expect this to repeat itself until he got a new relay added or a new kit.

Agreed it was user error and could have all been avoided if he wasn't too lazy to either

    A) Remove his HID kit which takes 15 minutes Max and preserve his warranty
    B) Check the fuse which would have been my first thought
    C) Run the wiring harness which is negligible in cost to his cheap Chinese HID kit

Simply don't give the dealership a reason to void your warranty and buy quality components. Vendors like TRS and Xenondepot didn't get their reputation overnight selling garbage. And yes I'm aware some people have issues with the TRS kit.

If the after market lights made the problem then they aren't fucking anyone, just doing their job.

I agree .. but a pair of 35w ballasts / hids aren't the problem there if they were installed correctly

I would of checked the fuses, first. If that was not the issue, I would of spent 15 minutes removing the HID kit before going to the dealer in my opinion.

How do we know it was installed correctly? He can't even check a fuse.
Also the OP wants the dealer to check the fuse. Do a diagnostic and not pay for the time taken. He is lucky they waved the charge.

Agreed if you can't take 15 seconds to check it fuse or don't know how to; I don't feel you have any place wiring or installing a HID kit.

Reasons like this is why I don't modify my truck. There is nothing wrong with the lights that come with the truck in my opinion.

Morimoto for the win. Hands down the best HIDs on the market. Also, when in doubt, have a professional install it.
