Hell no we use my 10 pound sledge, we could easily damage a rim using a air hammer.

You hit the tire with the hammer not the rim! Have to do it all the tire with the equipment at work. Only those tires and wheel assemblies are pushing 150 to 200 lbs a piece. And we use a 20 lb. sledge.

You do not hit the rim the rim unless absolutely necessary, I have only had to hit the rim twice in my two years being in charge of the oil change/tire rotation guys at my dealer and both times I was shaking the whole truck on the rack wailing on the tire and it wasn't budging at all.

Damn dude, I thought the oversized 6 inch lift F150s with mickie thompson mud tires were heavy. Also very impressed with the 20 pound sledge, hoping I don't even ever need one to remove tires though.

Semi-truck 24.5" Budd steel wheels with a tire mounted are ~200lbs. I worked in truck and trailer shops for 20yrs and had to handle them all the time. Had to break them down and mount in one shop--it's done with 2 iron tire spoons and a duckbill sledgehammer by hand.

The 20lb sledge is impressive--on paper. In use it's too big--in outside dimensions to use effectively and that it takes you with it when you miss something. I'd use my 8lb for nearly everything. I cut the handle off an 8lb to use as a one hand sledgehammer and that was my most used hammer for beating the piss out of stuff.
