Yes I did search and yes I am a little lazy. Both are true...

I have a 2011 and just received my letter from Toyota. I found some threads from Sep 2019 regarding the same topic, but after reading 10+ pages of fluid film vs CRC etc, etc, I am not sure I know more. Is there a consensus on the answers to the following questions?

Should I bring my truck to Toyota for an inspection? Does this cost anything?
If they recommend the frame treatment should I get it?
If I decline the frame treatment am I forfeiting any future claim for a frame replacement?

Thank you for sharing your acquired knowledge and experience!

The letter from toyota has little to nothing to do with CRC. This is a new campaign.

    There is no cost.

Yea, you should let them evaluate your vehicle. If you do not, and a frame perforation should develop in the future you will be rendered SOL.

I'm not being a jerk, but take more time to read the threads associated with this. Every question you asked was already answered somewhere. That's how I got informed. There are a great many knowledgeable and helpful individuals on this site looking to spread the knowledge.

Also keep in mind that this is the result of a lawsuit, not generosity. Toyota will be more than happy to disqualify your frame from the program. So read up and get on good terms with your service manager. Not the service advisors, the actual service manager.

Actually read the notice and apparently there will be a subsequent communication regarding the CRC rust prevention program. Once I receive that notice, I will have a set period of time to get that done. Otherwise I will forfeit the 12 year frame rust coverage.

I was at my dealership recently as I was picking up some parts and talked to the service department.
I was looking o have a recall done on the spare tire carrier. I mentioned that my frame wasn't too bad and he looked up my Vin and said it got a new frame in Aug 2010. My truck is an 04.
I was excited to hear about this as I've had my truck now for two months.
So I went on to ask about a frame treatment and what it would cost. He went off the top of his head and said around $800-1000. Also said they no longer treat frames but I feel like he was lying. He also didn't want to do the recall on my tire carrier as he said they get too rusty for the mechanics to remove. (that's the whole point!)

After reading some stuff just now I think there might be like a 15 year warranty on the frame. But I'm not sure. It is getting rusted on the welds and worries me. I'd like to do something before it gets bad and make sure it lasts longer.
If anyone has any any info I'd really appreciate it.

Register your truck on Toyota's website and see if they logged what they wrote as being replaced. The truck I bought got new leaf springs and other stuff. My replacement frame is only 5 years old and I see normal surface rust on the welds. Just need to wire brush it off and put some protection on there.

I am not sure if dealers can decline to do recall work, but who knows.

Thanks man. I registered it and found everything they did. Shows all the parts they replaced along with the frame.
They replaced the lower control arms. I didn't think they did cuz they are rusted to shit. They also replaced my leaf springs.
I don't know if there is any warranty on the lower control arms. They look like they have been under water for a while. Lol.
