    Friend has a 2016 TRD Sport and it came from the dealer with a trailer brake controller. She didn't have it installed and didn't even know what it was until I asked about it.

    There is no OEM brake controller for the Tacoma. This has been discussed in length on here. Did your friend buy her truck brand new or used? If new the dealer must have installed it. It's definitely not OEM though.
