Broke the electrical connector banging on the housing, so that’ll have to be replaced. I think it’s the pressure switch?

That and a razor blade to remove the old is what I used. Post a picture of the piece you broke

brake cleaner will work. Mineral spirts will clean it also. Roll the small gears around inside and check for looseness or gears chipped.

The two wire switch is the locker position switch.

I freaked for a second when I saw chunks of stuff in the gear oil that pooled in the bottom of the axle housing, but when I tried to pick them up they disintegrated. They reminded me of flakes of carbon off of a firearm almost. But no, I didn’t see any more metal.

I stuck my finger into the middle and tried to sense play in the spider but it wouldn’t budge. So I stuck a flat head screwdriver in there and pried carefully, no movement.

I’ll have to unlock it for that, correct?

Yes, to make the spiders roll you would have to unlock it.

    I think you're golden myself.

I wouldn't clean the gear sets with anything just the gasket flange surface. All that greaseyness looks clean and it just has to reoil anyway.

Unlocked, turning the gears. There is a very little bit of play when I push hard. I haven’t felt any chips or anything yet:

EDIT: I suppose I should note that there seems to be an equal amount of play in all of the gears around the spider

Wouldn't the condition of the fluid be a better indicator of problems than a few random chunks of metal?
