Ok these latest posts makes a little more senses. I’m still baffled by the whole picture. But if this thing is real then...

It’s still a really odd situation, for a Toyota dealer to be selling this and certifying it with an inspection.

And to tell you that the frame will be swapped at a factory before they even had the processed approved. Based on my dealings with other dealers I could see a used car manager giving misleading info.

I would find out who the ownership group or person is. Emailing the GM and owner with the inspection report would generate and almost immediate response. It’s a documented form of communication. And would be highly advised to expedite you voiding the contract.

The DMV should be an interested party as well. The sellers inspection licensing would be under scrutiny, if the frame is rusted through.

Also. OP, I'm in brooklyn. I know ALLLLL about city world Toyota. They are trash scam artist. They are doing exactly what they normally do, giving you the run around. Get that money and run. They will strong arm you. Get lawyered up if you have to

To be completely fair. Most Toyota dealers in NYC area are horrible. Its NY :notsure:.

Best bet would be Advantage Toyota in jersey. They arent perfect but they do a lot better than any NY toyota dealer.

I got very lucky with my taco. I searched for around 5 months. Finally found one in jersey at a Toyota dealer. (I went to many dealers and private sellers).

This was a 2013 limited V6 4X4 DCLB. Lots of pictures on the site but you know how dealers finesse pictures. So I went in, checked it out. It was almost rust free. Surface rust on the hitch receiver and leaf springs, but overall good. Took a hammer I brought with me to the frame. All good. The sales guy didnt bother me. Took a test drive that lasted almost 2 hours. Crawled all under and over the truck with snow on the ground. Put my scanner on it. Listened for every sound I could hear. Pushed it hard, slow, quick turns, let it coast, drove up hills, highway, brake hard, looked at exhaust smoke for colors, took the engine cover off and even took a spark plug out to check for any fouling. All while the sales guy was right there. Didnt say a word to stop me. I was pleased with the truck so I bought it.

Of course they tried to add warranties and up sales and other crap, but I declined. Not a horrible experience which is why I'd say check them out.

I'm in New York State and I seem to remember a law that gives a customer a certain (very limited) number of days to back out of an automotive deal with no questions asked. Anybody know anything about that and if that might help the OP?

There are buyers remorse laws, that give you 3 days to change your mind on a contract, but there are so many stipulations that in most all cases it’s impossible to get that to work.

There is, but most dealers get around that with an 'as-is' contract

The sale and leasing of automobiles, one of the most expensive purchases made by many New Yorkers, is not currently covered under the Cooling-Off Rule.

    https://www.sapling.com/8673103/can-after-signing-papers-automobile

    The "Cooling-Off Period" Myth

Some car buyers are under the impression that federal "cooling off rules" allow them to cancel the purchase of a car within a fixed period of time, usually three days. This is totally incorrect. While the Federal Trade Commission does have cooling off rules, they apply almost exclusively to sales by door-to-door solicitors. Car sales definitely are not covered.

However, in some states it is possible to purchase a cancellation option in your contract for a car. You pay a bit extra for the car, and in exchange the dealer agrees to let you cancel the contract within a fixed period of time. In California, dealers are required to explicitly offer customers who purchase used cars for less than $40,000 a two day cancellation policy. The cost of these policies varies from around $75 to $250, depending on the price of the car.

I think it's because people go out themselves to look and purchase a vehicle. I'm all for consumer protection in cases of where an unsafe product is sold to the consumer. But there are other pieces of legislation and recourse that then falls into play . But not in a vehicle purchase, where it's just because someone decided to change their minds and now don't want it. Door to door pressure sales are in a different category. But in that case l just say no thank you and start closing the door. My house, my rules.
There has to be some responsibility held by the consumer prior to making that big purchase.

Yeah cooling off laws typically apply to transactions that are not made in the company’s office. I.e. the contract is signed somewhere else. Had to look into that for shady dealings with a roofer once.

We should call up the dealer ship and ask about the truck. When they said it's not available, we should offer way more than asking so they will cancel OP's deal in hopes for more cash. Then we bail on our side! :fingerscrossed:

Hopefully OP went with another vehicle.

Walk away from this one. If dealer wants to replace frame, let them do it on their own time and not while you are under contract.

If you still want to buy the vehicle, look at it after they put it back together. Test drive it to your local mechanic so they can give it a look over.

    All dealers are different.
Seems this one is not so good.
Others have mentioned this dealer being bad.
Our capitol city seems crappy also a guy at work bought a tundra had the rear tires smoked bald.
Took them over a month and numerous trips for him to get his mismatched rear tires replaced.
    It’s winter here in Vt.
Really hoping you can get your $ and look elsewhere.
My dealer did an amazing job doing my frame.
So I’m gonna say find something with a new frame.
Motors etc can be fixed the frame not so much.
