Bought a Mobil One filter

or so I thought about four months ago at Walmart and set it aside for a future oil change. Went to change my oil today and found that some POS thief swapped the filters in the store, causing me a headache in the middle of my oil change. The Fram was for another make and could not be used. Just a warning to all to verify what they are buying.

 

I hate people.

 

That sucks. I once received a well-used pair of someone's Cole Haan shoes in place of the nice new pair I was expecting. Need new shoes? Order some and throw the old ones in the box and return them.

I made a habit of checking the filter that is in the box, but more looking for damage. I was in a similar situation where I had everything drained and realized the new filter was damaged (box was fine, though).

The 3614 is actually the proper filter for a 4.0 and cross-references to the Mobil 1 filter you show there.

I did not use it because according to Frams filter guide, the PN should be: PH3814, the filter in the Mobil box was PH3614. So, I waited for my girlfriend to get off work and went down to the Auto parts store and bought a Mobil One. - paying double what Walmart sells it for.
