Hi All, Probably last post here - moving to 3rd Generation Threads. Just FYI I traded in my 2012 Taco Base 4x4 w/ 17K miles - excellent condition - and the dealer gave me $12K (I paid just unnder 20K when new. That's 8K loss for 8 years - 1K year to drive. AND the dealer put it on the lot for asking price of 21K !! How's that for Tacoma Value !!!!

They'll be lucky to get that for it kinda crazy that they are asking that much for a bare bones Tacoma. If I were you, I'd be a little irritated that they gave you 9g less than their asking price. Hope you drive this one more.

things that sit in the garage tend to hold their value better than things that are driven

KBB List for this in ex cond. trade in listed at 12K. So I got that ... However, they ALSO gave a great discount on the new truck (before my trade in price included). All in all, I guess I could have gotten a little more for for the trade. But, As stated above - I think they "might" get 15K for my trade (they always pad the selling price to give you more on your trade - especially if your loan was under water ...) But, My original point was that I was amazed how the Taco held it's value. Also, It was never garaged ... just well kept. JMO.

A little of this and a little of that.
The Tacoma line of trucks have always been tops in value.

Should've sold it yourself. Bought my 09 sr5 prerunner w/a camper shell a couple years ago for $14k and sold it just in november. It had 172k miles and sold it for $14k plus $1500 on the camper shell. Tacomas have crazy resale value.

I agree with @Jeffch why get rid of the 2012? I think you lost out on it too. I traded in my 14 Double cab 4x4 SR5 with 97k miles and i got 19k for it.

Right, I get what you mean. But if they listed it on their lot for 21k? Obviously knowing they won't get asking price and probably have 2k put into it, they'd still be making a ton of money on the deal.

Yeah I think that's one of those dealers thats just being dumb and trying to be a shiester. They won't get that from a smart consumer.

Jesus, that's a bit more than 20%GP for the dealer. 21 seems like a going rate for a truck like that around my area.

Congrats on the new truck! Sounds like you got taken though. As long as you're happy and money isn't a huge factor then so be it!
