And here I went selling my subaru to get a Tacoma....I personally had two crosstreks and while they were both alright to drive, they were gutless. I also had so many problems I had no other option but to run as fast as I possibly could. The 5 speed manual was geared HORRIBLY. It needed a 6 speed so badly. Oh yea, and as of last year they dont make the outback in a standard for the US.

exactly this. the Crosstek has 148hp and a 5sp. and it's supposed to carry stuff, like all 4 of my family members.

the irony about this thread is that you can't get the right MT vehicle in Subaru either.. the only MT options are in the underpowered Crosstek or their sedans. you cannot get a proper MT in their SUVs with a real motor. i'm the same as the OP, either MT or bust. i'll buy a used anything to keep the MT, but finding a reasonable utility vehicle in that config nowadays is tough to get especially if buying new. still in line for my MT Taco 2 months in, no build date or any of that.

They still have the forester in a manual. 6 spd I believe. It just looks like a mushed up minivan.

I loved Subies until my '12 Forester got the excessive oil consumption problem at 20k (about a quart per 1500 miles)

    https://www.cars.com/articles/2011-15-subaru-oil-consumption-update-1420683845519/

At the time, Subaru was telling everyone that it was normal if it was less than a quart per 1200 and told me my VIN wasn't part of the TSB. I traded on a CRV for my wife. Later they contacted me as I was in fact part of the TSB (too late), and Subaru owned up to some degree, but people with the fix say it just happens again after some time, so I am glad I ditched it.

It will take a long time for me to trust them mostly due to Subuaru's handling of the affair

My car had the Ecu recall so the ecu and motor both were replaced at around 10k miles the motor than kept leaking from the cam position sensor and it spent 3 trips to the shop then. Then the clutch malfunctioned and they did a whole new tranny clutch and pedal. Then the last time it was in the shop a tech ran it into a 2 post lift. And to top it all off the whole car rattled and I had the limited which is the top of the line. They always say there are 2 days that are the best with owning a Subaru the day you buy it and the day you sell it.

One of each for our house. CVT because my wife can't/won't drive a manual.
I can sympathize with the OP's frustration. My preference would be a DCLB with a manual, but Toyota doesn't make one. Needless to say I drive an auto along side my wife.

It's real simple on the manual trans. If there was enough demand for it, they would build it. I want a purple regular cab with the 5.7 V8 in it, but there aren't enough people that want one also. Good luck after buying a COMPLETELY different vehicle just to get a manual transmission, and show Toyota. The Tacoma is just about the only truck you can even get a manual transmission in, much less with some decent level of equipment. Have fun with your rotary dial phone, pager, and typewriter. Make sure you join the retired school teacher forum, so you can talk to other Subaru Forester owners about all the cool shit they did last weekend with the grand kids.

Subaru's are great cars. I've had a 06 forester XT MT and a 04 STI and loved them. Sad I sold them both for my 17 DCSB offroad I'll be picking up the beginning of Nov. It was a great community to be apart of and I'm glad the Tacoma community seems to be the same way. I will eventually have a RSTI.

I'm sorry that you will be having a Relapsing Sexually Transmitted Infection.

Just kidding. STI's are great cars. My favorite ones are the years '04-'06.

Are you talking Ontario California? Or Ontario canada lol.

It was never listed on Toyota.ca and I asked a bunch of dealers and Toyota Corperate. The DCSB TRD Off Road was not available in Canada for 2016 model. But 2017 is.

On the site right now, not sure where you guys saw a DC option in canada...other than if they were brought up from the US. Talked to 3 different dealers last year and they all told me they can't get them in canada.

its a Toyota truck and that's all the modifications needed
those suburus depicted in your videos aren't standard off the factory line machines they are beefed up with aftermarket accessories to make them be able to perform that way, therefore lets compare your Sandblast rally Subie that's been modified to Ironman Ivan Stewarts Toyota offroad truck that's won numerous Baja 500s and other offroad events, there is no comparison that Subie would not stand a snowballs chance in hell against it. check mate:rolleyes:
