Sister had a 13' crosstrek, Constant Velocity Trans was crap. She paid 32k cash, I don't know what she was thinking. She barely got out from under it, lost 13k in less than 2 years. She now has a new Unlimited Rubicon and is really happy. Subaru bought it back from her cause Jeep wasn't going to give her squat on trade in. I personally liked the crosstrek, but the trans was really annoying, and it was a pretty expensive.

The Crosstrek will be my wife's next car when her Fit finally gets too expensive to repair (133,000 miles and only regular maintenance so far). Hopefully they will still offer a manual trans . . .

$32,000? It must have had every option available. I would consider our 14 Outback a more substantial car, even in base model form, and we only paid $23,700.

Wouldn't exactly call a Tacoma a manly vehicle...can't really tow or haul much of anything. Ok for some recreational scrap
    lumber hauling...but for "real work"...

....I mean, if we are all posting up pics of vehicles hauling wood and all. It is kinda adorable ya'll having a pissing match over Tacoma vs. Suby loads. :D

My wife drives a 2014 crosstrek. Nice car, gets outstanding gas mileage. Most I have ever seen except for Prius's (priI)? 33-35. Sounds like a over powered lawn mower but runs good and doesn't use oil.
Be careful with oil usage on 2013 Subaru models. All 2013's may have higher than normal oil usage. 3 large lawsuits say so.
I don't tow with the crosstrek. It doesn't have the muscle for it.

Even with a Tonneau, the truck has more room. We have both and have taken either camping.

We paid less than 30K for a Forester.

    LMAO! Dat dar is funny.

Good lord no, I don't drive that truck...it scares me just looking at it!

Heaviest thing I used to tow was a John Deere 555, with either our Chevy C70 or the Tri-Axle Mack Dumpbeds.

We had two, standard shift, 955 Cats and a cable D6 when I was growing up on my Grandfathers Farm. We got a 955H (hydro) and people came from miles around to see it.

We used to tow the early 955's to get them to start as the pony motors worked about as well as a Hillary supporter.

I bought an under-powered Subaru Forester. It has all-wheel drive instead of 4WD. It has 8.7" of ground clearance instead of 9.4".

Toyota will be proud of you. They own 16.5% of Subaru.

Damn...cable D6...when men were men.....now it is man buns, lumber jack beards with no lumber, and Subarus...

Don't know why the OP didn't just buy a Sport and toss a locker in it. Could probably find a whole rearend out of a salvage yard. Swapping over isn't it all that difficult.
