    OK. So....

I bought some 5100's for my TRD Sport. Front and rear. I have read the ToyoTec thread and examined their website to the point I can almost recite it from memory.

The question is...what springs should I purchase to finish this out correctly and what setting should I use on the shocks to achieve a daily level stance front to rear. i only want 1.5 inches of lift.

Thanks group and thanks @ToyTec Lifts for the help and advice so far.

What configuration truck do you have? I'm guessing 4x4 V6 DCSB.

His avatar says sport, sport. I'm still watching as I'm considering the same for my 4x4 V6 DCSB, and want to keep the current rake and not just level it as I use it for towing.

I'm guessing for just a 1-1/2" lift all around, the OP (and I) would use 5100's all around but also with 1-1/2" blocks in the rear? Maybe a front differential drop kit too? Not sure... so waiting for some good answers too.

I'm asking because that plays a role in which coils to get, sport. This way I can give him an educated answer.

Ah, so it would be different between the sport and 4x4? Newbie on lifting here too...

No, the difference comes from different configs that change weight. 2x4 vs. 4x4. V6 vs I4. Access cab vs. DCSB vs. DCLB. These all play a role.

Curious- why not just use 5100's with just stock coils in front? The OP asked about a 1.5-inch lift, or does he need coils for that too? What's the best way of getting the same 1.5-inch lift on back? Blocks with 5100's?

Oh shoot, I forgot that part. I didn't reread the op this morning when responding. To answer his question, he should get 885s.

To answer your question, when you use 5100s with stock coils, you're preloading the coil achieve the lift. with the OME coils, you're using a longer coil to gain the lift, resulting in a smoother ride.

Sounds good, thanks. What about getting the 1.5-inch lift in the back? Also, any concerns about having to lower the front differential with less than a 2-inch lift?

An easy way to get 1.5"-2" in the rear is an AAL (add a leaf). You can either get a single leaf, or a three leaf pack. The three leaf one is a little more expensive but results in a smoother ride.

I forgot to mention in my previous reply that preloading the stock coils results in a harsh ride.

Edit: no need to worry about the differential either.

Hmm, what about blocks in lieu of new springs in back? Yay or nay?

I was contemplating the same 6 months ago after a year of research for what I wanted in a lift that kept my ride as close to stock (TRD 4x4 OR DCSB MT6). I chose to go with ToyTec Boss 2.0 with 2" blocks in the rear and kept the stock rake which I feel is important to keep the ride closer. After install it rides great, I know that was the best for me. People will bash Blocks but those are the hardcore off roaders, I'm not a heavy off roader but as a DD this works for me.$.02

I'd go as high as a 1" block in the rear, but that's it. Blocks provide the axle, with extra leverage on the leafs, and causes something called axle wrap. Google a video on it, and you'll see why it's a bad thing.

I see, you are increasing leverage between the drive train and the axle using blocks- something I maybe should concider since I will be towing - if it's not towing the force won't be as bad I imagine, making using blocks more acceptable. Good points, thanks!
