    @EatSleepTacos
    @jsinnard
    @TacoCat

    To my favorite three advisors. I need to final assistance on my tire/wheel. I think I may have made an error with the wheels I purchased because I am now very limited on the tires.

    I purchased 17x7 4Runner Pro wheels.

    My lift is 2.5 rear and 2 in front.

    I like the KO2's and Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

    Here's the problem. I think I am stuck at 265/70/17 because most of my research shows that I need a 17x7.5 or 17x8 rim to go to a 275/70/17. I think I should have gone with a wider wheel....

    My concern is that the 265/70 wont be large enough. maybe that's just a construct of my mind. I dunno.......

    You CAN go with a wider wheel but it's not necessary, 285 and 275 will fit just fine on the 7 inch TRD wheel you have.

    Insane how limited the options are for 275/70/17. I cant find anything besides the KO2's. I don't think I want to go 285. Just a little too much for me. Any suggestions.

    I would recommend 255/80r17 in the Cooper ST Maxx. They're similar to the ridge grapplers in that they're a middle ground between an AT and an MT. Nitto actually JUST started making the ridge grapplers in that size as well.

    Here's my buddies truck with a 2.5" front/2" rear running that size.

    Also check out the reviews of the kumho at51 I'd sent you before, they're also available in 275/70/17 C load so they're lighter than the E load BFGs.

    On a DCLB I'd recommend 887. Should put you at 2" of lift in the front. 887 would be ~1.5" or so.

    Is 887 a taller coil or is it just beefier?

    Only taller. They both have the same spring rate of 590lbs. Same thing with 888s

    I have a 2017 TRD sport access cab. Its the V6/4wd.
    I installed the Helwig Add-a-leaf in the rear with OEM shocks and I used the Bilstein 5100 in front. This was necessary because I went to the 265/70/r17 BFG KO2 tires. That doesnt work perfectly onmy truck unless some other mods were done. Which I did.

    The Helwig set the rear height at 7.0” from tire to fender. I do love the Helwig kit.

    The front measured only 5” (tire to fender) with the OEM strut/springs and I had already made some cuts in the mud flap and front valance, to acommodate the tires - eliminating the minor “rubs” experienced in certain turning radius situations.

    So... to perform some leveling (and maybe be lucky enough to even get some coincidental help in anti-rub insurance) I got the Bilstein 5100 pair and used them with the OEM Toyota springs.

    I set the lift to position #4 (1.55”). Even though 2.0” was possible, I have the access cab - so I was satisfied with the results. Be sure to get alignment when using the 5100 strut/shocks.

    thats what im thinking.
    the aal says 2" but after settling plus my cap, the extra 1" block should bing it back up to 2"+ in rear, then i also have a pair of toytec 1/2" top plate spacers to add with 887 & billies to keep it above 2"
    it'll be a weird set up but im thinking it'll sit just under 3"
    the block, aal, and top plate spacers i got for next to nothing so i figured id use them with 5100 and 887 with no issues, ill also have carrier bearing, dif drop and ecgs bushing on hand if need be

    If that's the case, I'd recommend 888 coils. They are also the same coil, just a little bit longer than the 887s. Those should get you ~2.25"-2.5" of lift without any spacers.

    Working on it, dissent offroad racks, shift sense pro, pedal commander , ARB twin, rigid SS dually's , dual batteries, ARB fridge , 2.5 Fox coil overs wResi , 2.5 Fox rears w resi Total chaos UCA , deaver packs , Nitto trail grappler's 33" .
    Lol now you need bigger tire's . And while you are putting new tire's on you may as well get the new wheels also.
    When you realize you want at least 33" tire's you will start thinking I may as well get some fox coilovers and rear shocks, but just the starter kit. Till you see that for a few hundred more you can put 2.5" fox coilovers in front and might as well get the 2.0 resi's in the rear :). Of course now you need OME Dakar's for better ride on and offroad . Add that up and for a few hundred more you can have 2.5" resi coilovers and 2.5" rear resi's . With total chaos UCA's and HD Dakars .
    Wait I can get the DCS ???? Noooooo that's just a waste of money :rofl:it never ends !!!!

    Forgot the Beadlocks !

    @TacoCat

    Gents,

    My 887 are great and my 5100's in the front really made the truck sit up nicely. I did the ICON AAL and left in the helper spring in the rear. I figure i got about 2.5 in the rear and a solid 1.85-2.0 in the front. Love it!
    I purchased 285.70.17 NITTO Ridge Grapplers. They are superb.

    HOWEVER, I would like an extra 1/4 to 1/2 inch in the front. Should I do a 1/2 inch spacer or should I got to the #1 position on the 5100's which says it adds .65 of inch?

    If I go to position #1 can I keep my 887's?

    hey bro,

    the general rule of thumb is not to preload the OME springs. that being said, i know people here on the forum and in real life that has preloaded them to the first and second notch and have not had an issue. A guy i know has the same set up as you on the second notch and has ran them 50k miles with no problem so far. If you preload them, you will take away a little ride quality. Honestly, I don't think you will notice the difference at all. if you do decide to reload, I take no responsibility if something goes wrong lol :p

    a top spacer is also an option. you can talk to Marie at @HeadStrong Off-Road. Maybe they have some info on good top spacers or another spring that may fit your needs.
