i would just run the ground back to the battery. that always works the best.

ya i hear ya guys on that, i kinda bought this mostly as an extra safety precaution tho, so when the bass kicks in xtra hard this will take the hit as apposed to the amp... the guy who has done my previous cars said this works just fine, as he has done systems with way more power and it held up perfect... as you can tell i didnt go for brand names with my set up... the most important part of my system is the wiring and the way im gonna match it all up, thats all that really matters when ur talking about overall performance

lol true if i spend money on that stuff i go big or dont do it at all. thats why i usually run the amp back to the battery plus i had a 2500.1 grounding that beast was a bit of a problem

so ur running your stock door speakers still?? i tried that and all i heard was base and that was when i only had one of the 15's in my truck. didn't really care for it but if your subs are not to loud should be fine. but i personally like the sound of highs with little bass. but yea i defiantly know what you mean with the prices they charge for subs and amps these days.

yea im gonna run these into the ground! the most important thing for these 8"s is the box that i put them in, im goin to make sure that its perfect to hit the lows and pound hard also... then the 4 channel amp is going to go to the speakers strictly for mids and highs thus making a more full sound and balanced... and in these trucks, it will definitely be loud enough... i listen to A LOT of dubstep and bassy music, so im gonna tailor it to such settings

i think the size of the box is what matters the most. a box makes a system.

With that being said I had one rockford fosgate p3 12 that hit way harder then my exs 2 12s. and we both had lxs so the car was not the determining factor.

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
Rockford fosgate makes some great products. I have just one p3 8" shallow mount and it sounds like i have two tens. Probably helps that my box is exactly the ideal volume for the sub, which is very low and is another plus about rockford fosgate shallow mount subs.

Double cab, access can, regular cab? This will help if you want recommendations for a sub box.

Im access cab so I've got nothing for ya. Every once is awhile i see a sub box for the storage compartments in a double cab in the buy/sell/trade section, if you browse through that you might be able to find one or at least get some ideas, good luck!

Or just build your own, just need some basic carpentry tools.

ive been thinking about building my own, but i wonder if buying the supplies, taking time to make it, is worth doing, or is it better just to drop 100$ on one?

nothing really just highs subs take way to much time to mess with.

well are you building a wood box or a fiberglass. because with fiberglass the sky is the limit you can make a spot to flush mount your amp with a tube to run them behind the box. but that takes a lot of time and money. and with wood i know in the double cab behind the seats is a pain to make a wood box fit right.
