i bought a 2019 TRD Pro with a mt6. It’s supposed to be getting delivered to me as soon as they can find somebody to drive a manual. What I don’t get is why doesn’t a car dealership require employees to be able to drive a manual when hired?

Why not just go pick it up? That seems like a pretty ridiculous excuse the dealer gave you.

Congrats on the new truck! and post pics when you get it

What the heck is a manual? Okay, just kidding but can you go get it yourself? I flew half way across Oregon to drive my new Taco home. I didn’t want some yahoo driving my new truck!

Congrats on the new truck! I am sure you will love it!

Dealerships don't require their dealer trade/delivery drivers to be able to drive manuals because most of them now hire retired older people for this sort of thing. So they don't let some wet behind the ears kid out of high school deliver vehicles. At least that is the case around our area.

Not many jobs require that employees know how to drive a manual anymore. Not even trucking companies with how common place automatics have become. My company interviewed several people with CDLs would could not drive a manual when we were looking for someone to drive our transfer truck. I was shocked

I drive about 4000 miles a week now. Matter of fact I’m in Edmonton,Ab. When I get home the last thing is to do is get on a plane and fly then drive back.

It’s just a truck nothing special. Kinda like marrying a women these days. Chances are somebody else broke her in before the next guy married her. Lol

Hey man, I appreciate what you do. That is a thankless and lonely career. May your down times be short, and your up times be prosperous.

You’re nuts. You’re really gonna let someone else put the first 700 miles on it? Have it shipped. You can afford to.

I wouldn’t trust anyone driving my brand new truck, especially if it was manual. I’d be scared they’d burn through half the clutch delivering it.

Also, you’re paying for a BRAND NEW truck. You’ll be getting it with some miles on it already. Personally, I’d feel a little “ehh” about that.
