The whole link suspension thing is a pain so many more problems than leafs. Hopefully it will be worth it when I get it dialed in though.

Got my compressor installed today here's a little write up on it. Started out trying to figure out where it would fit. Decided to mount it in a box in the bed but couldn't find a suitable box for less than $179. went back and found that it would fit on the top of my winch solenoids if i moved my cruise control over a few inches.

First thing to do was make some mounts. I got a piece of 1/8 x 1/2ish bar from tractor supply. All you have to do is cut bend and drill holes to get it to go where you want it to be. I don't have a vise so I used the bumper on my friends chevy and a c-clamp. Use a crescent wrench or pair of pliers to twist or bend it. Do one leg at a time and bolt each one in place as you go. If you don't bolt them on as you make them it won't work right.

After you get your mount in place set the compressor in place and check hood clearance it would suck to get it finished only to find that it hits the hood when you close it. I used the slam the hood and look for damage method. I drilled holes in the inner fender bolted with fender washers, lock washers and blue locktite....then I had to take it back out because I couldn't get the mount bolts on the compressor to start with it in place.

It can be a pain to get wire through the grommets. If you will tape your wires to a small diameter ink pen it makes it much easier to get through.

The switch holes in the console weren't quite wide enough. A few minutes with a leatherman and they worked perfectly. The arb compressor comes with a pretty nice wiring harness. It has connections for locker solenoids and multiple switches. Interesting thing the arb harness's solenoid connections are the same as the ones on my yukon locker. I installed an aux fuse block behind the ds kick panel a while back. I used it to get power for the switches.

I ran the air line out of the compressor down the frame andto a tee. After the tee one leg went to the tank I installed under the bed the other to a quick connect fitting in the bed. Not permanent but useable or so I thought.

Here is the tank I put under the bed. It's a cheap air pig from tractor supply. I just found a air tank that had feet on both ends I could drill and put bolts through. After drilling the hole in the feet I held it to the bottom of the bed and marked the holes on the underside of the bed with a sharpie. After that drill holes and bolt in place using fender washers. Also this is a good reason to throw the plastic bedliner in the trash. It had 1/2 of an inch of wet leaves, dirt, cigarette butts and other stuff that will eventually rust holes in it along both wheel wells.

Turns out the poly tubing I used couldn't handle the temperature created by the arb comp at 120 psi. I need to make a manifold so I guess I'll make one with heatsinks tomorrow night at work. If I run high temp line to the manifold It should hold up just fine.

Compressing air heats it up a LOT. I helped a friend of mine when he installed a compressor and twin ARB lockers in his Xterra. He used a 36 inch length of braided steel line that ran from his compressor to his tank. (Of course his tank was mounted under-hood, and the tank was inside a front fenderwell, so they were reasonably close to each other.

Another option is a heat exchanger. Take a piece of copper tubing, say 3/8 inch or so and 4 feet long, and coil it around a 2 inch piece of PVC pipe. Slide this coil off the pipe and connect one end to the compressor, and the other to your hose. Instant cooler!

Yeah a copper coil would probably work but I need a small manifold for it and I might as well cut some heat sinks in it when I machine it. Although I could put a coil between them.

Lots of options to keep things cool, that is for sure. Of course if you did have enough braided steel line to run from the compressor to the tank, a cooler wouldn't be needed. One question, did you install a drain on the lower area of the tank? You are going to get moisture unless you have a drier installed in-line. And even then, some moisture does still collect inside a tank.

Haven't put a water separator in yet but it is coming. Next time I get a chance I'm going to weld a petcock in the tank.

I should have told you the trick. Take the tubing, fill it with water and put it in the freezer overnight. THEN coil the tubing around a 2 inch pipe. After that, allow it to warn up and the ice inside will melt. Then drain it, blow it out, and you have a coil!

Have you tried tubing that is used for semi truck air systems. It has a much higher temp rating and you can anywhere that handles commercial truck parts. Thats what I run for my air system and have never had a problem
