Are these legal in all states? It's illegal to drive with a tow bar on any vehicle if you aren't towing in California

 

It's not a tow bar, It's more like a trailer hitch depending if you have the ball on it or not. All of the cops I've talked to haven't said it's illegal.

 

I guess hitch is what you are calling it... Is this considered a hitch? There are ass hole cops all over here

 

Its a step bumper That absorbs up to a 20MPH hit without damaging the truck. They do come with a ball hitch but I would never use it to tow so I bought the cheaper one.

 

I just installed the magnum edition on my 3rd Gen. I’m debating putting some reflective warning tape vs, a custom vinyl, vs a sticker, vs grafting on lights, vs leaving it as is. Maybe ill try a few things, but good ideas are welcome.

Went and bought a locking hitch pin from Home Depot, but it was too short to reach the lock mechanism on the other side. Gonna see if they have something that does work. The instructions mentioned a “Permanent” installation option, but I would prefer to be able to remove it when necessary.

seems like they are not too concerned about regulating non towing hitch accessories.

Overall, it’s a pretty heavy plate of shiny black metal with rubber buffers that go inside the hitch tube and around the outside of the tube. I believe it is sturdy enough to perform as advertised so even if some may think it’s dumb or ugly, it’s nice to have the extra protection.

The package also included mini buffers that go on your front license plate screws to prevent scratching someone else in a parking lot (I did not install those at this time).
It’s a decent product and the customer service was good. It arrived quickly and the install is straight forward for the non-mechanically gifted man like myself.

According to https://www.merriam-webster.com/ an ass is defined as an African or Asian perissodactyl mammals (genus Equus) smaller than the horse and having long ears, a stupid, stubborn, or detestable person, or buttocks. Seems like you might be using it incorrectly if it literally covers your ass.
