Dude, please block out what everyone else is saying and listen to Foxy's posts. Are you seriously going to sue someone? That is such a pussy thing to do. YOU GOT A GOOD DEAL ON YOUR TACO!! leave it at that. You went to the dealer expecting a PreRunner SR5 non TRD and thats what you got. I have a strong feeling that if the TRD stickers were not on there that you would have still bought the truck. $500 bucks sounds like a gift to me. Dont pay attention to what "great deals" other people got. There are few out there and alot more buyers

Getting warranty 5/7 years 100K miles is worth a good 800-1K not bad but you still don't have a TRD, if I was you I would take off the stickers before someone points it out to you and embarrasses you even more again. IMHO

What does he have to be embarrassed about. He said he's not a car guy, he went to buy a truck, the salesman told him it was a TRD and he believed him. He came here when he became suspicious. Lay off the guy.

Yo man you need to get off the TRD pedestal. He didnt get rapped on the purchase. You deff are not making this guy feel any better about the situation. He didnt want a TRD. You did, congrats. What do you do with that TRD in Florida anyway? To the poster, dont pay him any attention. You have a great truck. No one is going to think less about it.

You didnt want a TRD. I really dont think you should start something at the dealer. I dont think you deserve an extended warranty. How would that make everything OK anyway????? They said they will take the truck back from you. That right there rights what the dealer did. If you dont want it than get rid of it, but dont try and make out on the deal because you were not smart enough to do your research before you went out and bought. Suck it up. Situations like this really piss me off. People trying to take advantage of the situation.

The dealer said they will buy the truck back
The dealer said they will buy the truck back

Senior member your quote...What does he have to be embarrassed about.

His truck is not a embarrassment, letting a sticker stay on it saying TRD when it's not could be if he is a young guy hangs out at the local joint were kids hang out and some guy who has one says hey did you know thats not a TRD did you get screwed when you bought it? Oops there we go again he has to explain everything again.

Now let me get something clear here senior member:D

    I'm from the old school as well. If I want to drive a truck that looks like a 4X4 drives like a 4x4 people thinks it's a 4x4. Guess what I'm not a highschool kid, I bought a 4x4 TRD Sport Taco because I could. :D Did I need a 4x4 No:D

    I don't and won't buy a camary If I want a ES300, I guess I could and just change the emblems...Get my point Senior Member:p

GreenGuy, don't blow a head gasket. I go back to my last post, If I want to drive a truck that's jacked up and looks like a 4x4 but it's not I'll go back to high school isn't that what High school kids did? I bought a 4x4 Taco because that's what Taco's are really all about. Now if I want to go BAJA I will get a 2WD TRD TACO, But I go fishing and need 4x4 for docking and taking out the boat.

Not sure why you are being such an a$$, I never said a word about your 4X4. Re-read my post. Did they teach you to read in that old school?

I posted the links where I got my figures and also stated it is from Kelly Blue Book using exactly the information from the ad which I also posted a link to. The 1st figure is for the SR5 non trd and the 2nd is for the TRD OR version using the same specs.

    Thanks
Seriously what is so special about a TRD?
I have a 4x4 BASE non TRD, not even an SR5 and I absolutely love it. I have been wheeling with Timmer who has a bad a$$ TRD OR and I didn't have any problems keeping up with him. I'm in no way embarrassed about my truck compared to a TRD OR or Sport, actually a guy at my work has a TRD Sport Prerunner and everyone teases him that mine looks better. I'm not a fan of the stock TRD stickers, but I'd consider sporting some custom sockmonkey decals and I wouldn't be embarrassed if someone said something to me.
So if someone with a TRD takes off the stickers what does that make the truck?

I'm just not understanding why you are not comfortable keeping the truck when you got what you went to get and you got it for a reasonable price? If you had an issue you probably should have addressed it before you made the purchase. I think you are lucky to get anything from the dealer much less an offer to take the truck back, around here they would say tough sh!t you shouldn't have signed the papers. Just out of curiosity you should contact a lawyer, cause I'd be surprised if they even humored your story. Then when they tell you how rediculous your expectations are you will feel comfortable keeping the truck. Anyway, I'm sure you have learned something from all of this and I wish you luck with whatever route you choose to go and that it may make you comfortable with the Tacoma you own.

personally, i don't buy vehicles unless they are fully loaded for 2 reasons, 1 i cant stand it to know that i didnt get ALL the toys! i find i like a vehicle less knowing someone else drives one thats better than mine!
second, i feel that when i buy a vehicle (new) if you cant afford the fully loaded model perhaps you should be looking at a different vehicle that costs less?

however when you buy used i think you buy what your looking at, and if it suits your needs and the price seems fair then buy it! my last trucl was a 1996 V6 LX package it didnt have any power windows or locks but did have cruise and intermintent wipers. i decided for the money i could live without thoes features but i had it 9 months and traded it in for a fully loaded 2009 TRD offroad. so in hindsight i think i missed thoes things and a few others.

if i were you, decide if you really want the truck, i would take the stickers off because i wouldnt want to be a poser and pretend i have somthing i dont! every time you look at thoes stickers your going to feel like you got ripped off, so take em off! problem solved!
if you keep the truck take the 500 bucks and put a TRD exhaust and CAI on it
if your thinking you dont want to keep the truck then i would see if you can find a TRD equipped truck and buy that instead.

ok, i didnt read through this whole post, but i saw somethings repeted that i thought were worth mentioning.

first off, the prerunner option is simply a 6 lug configuration without the 4wd drivetrain. and yes, the prerunner comes without the trd package. you can get a prerunner in base, sr5, or sr5 trd packages. the only package you cannot get the prerunner suspension in would be the x-runner (duh!).

secondly, you can not distinguish between trd and a non trd by the vin number. for a 2005 model truck. the dead give away, and the only thing that could not easily be changed with aftermarket parts is the power converter.

also, it should be noted that the trd options have changed quite a bit for 2009. i believe the overhead console with compass and temp is availible in sr5 trim, and all tacoma models come standard with an lsd (brake operated, but still an lsd) instead of just the sport model. the offroad package gained the lsd, a-trac, and the trd sprt models seats.
