Boulder/Denver area Sept 5-10

Hey guys I'm Matt from Alabama. I will be attending a wedding in September. I will be there from the 5th-10th. The wedding will be that weekend. They have rented the venue in Boulder from the 5th-8th so that will be the party days haha. They live in Denver. May make a trip there also. We have compared flights and car rental and such and decided it will be about the same price to drive, so I will be driving my 4th gen 4Runner for the 2600+ mile round trip. Who doesn't like a cross country trip. As of now my friend who is also invited to the wedding will be going, we will swap up drivers when necessary. It isn't necessary but I'm hoping to do a non stop drive only for gas and food. For sure one stop in Missouri at our friends pizza restaurant on our way or heading back home. Basically just looking for a not to complicated offroad trail or two or a couple nearby attractions for the time we are there . Remember I still have to drive home lol. I will be on vacation from work the 2nd and go back the 13th. Plenty of time to make the trip. we currently do not have a hotel to stay at although there is one they have reserved a couple of rooms about 10 minutes away. Do any of you guys do VRBO and are nearby? I probably would fly if I could rent a Tacoma or 4Runner while I was there haha. Here's a recent picture of my 4Runner.
