Helloooo taco world just wanted to put this out there…. Maybe someone will understand and be able to help :)!! At 73900 miles i replaced 2 tires.. (clones of my original firestone destinations, replaced the other 2 the previous year) got an oil change…. New battery and also replaced my brake pads (i bought a set of pads and rotors on Amazon) i was going to do the rotors but the shop said they could just resurface and they don't need changing.. so i did my front pads.

Currently am at 77,300 miles and am having an issue. Braking downhill causes a steering wheel vibration/shake as-well as a slight shutter on the brake pedal, upon reaching around 35-45 after breaking my truck will feel very ,*bouncy, for lack of a better word. Im really not sure what is causing this.. upon googling a lot of people say rotors.

tomorrow i am going to a co-workers mechanic as i don't have one (i went to pep boys) he is very good and thorough and my coworker says if you don't need the rotors he wont do it.. (they’re still sitting in my back seat from my previous brake pad replacement) he's a very upfront and transparent mechanic apparently and I'm so grateful he was able to squeeze me in tomorrow at 10 :)!!!

if anyone has any help or tips… or even a similar story, id greatly appreciate it. This is causing me so much anxiety and i haven't been able to stop thinking about it every waking moment for the past week :/

I've had a slightly shaking wheel when braking at high speed.. honestly.. since i got the truck at 13,300 miles and just figured its how it drove. The bounciness while slowing down to a stop is pretty new.

I could be wrong but, your fluid could be old and causing more than just vibrations.

How many miles ago did you change the brake pads and what kind did you use? When did the shaking start? Did they also resurface the rotors or left them alone?

    Could be warped rotors

A local shop always replaces the rotors because they find the old rotors warp before new brakes wear out.
They say the newer rotors are lighter (less metal) to save on fuel so they don’t really have a turning in them.
Basically, they got tired of redoing brake jobs under warranty.

It attracts water and the viscosity breaks down, doesn’t even need to be a mileage thing, it’s time and humidity. Mine looks like shit, I’ve got to change it. Should be clear, no yellowing.

As a note i do live up in the hills.. my previous brakes lasted until this change at 73,000. I stopped into pep boys today after work to explain whats happening he said it could be multiple things but one was that they see a lot of “glazing” on the pads as i live up in the hills.. and riding the brakes can cause that. He said they could give my truck a look at tomorrow (they were closing in 30 min) but I'm going to my co workers mechanic tomorrow.

For a brake vibration, I would not be looking at the fluid. It does sound like a rotor could be warped. If it were me, I’d either live with the vibration or put in OEM rotors.

Thank you guys for not telling me my trucks done for and gonna blow a head gasket.. cause that is where my head goes with my anxiety. Im not a mechanic nor do i have an understanding of cars…. I feel like I'm walking in the dark with only a blind persons cane. I will post an update tomorrow.
