haha nice. i was with him all weekend. our group did pretty well. few pigs, saw a few bucks, which is more tehn ive ever seen on my ranch. Hell, even if you havent killed anything with your bow now, it doesnt hurt to get something new. 2 bows is always better then one. Let me know when you head over there.

well glue is wierd, havent heard about that. But yes, once the peep is in, and more shot are through, when the string stretches a littles it also twists the string. Thus not being perfect lined. I still have to twist mine a tad bit before drawing back to staighten it out. but im used to it so its not a big deal. Just make sure your bow is still timed correctly.

for teh peep more visible thing, i can tell you that you want to outside of your peep to line the housing of the sight. (cover the housing with the peep.) Find the anchor point that gives you that. and if its not comfortable, take it to your pro shop and ask him to adjust it. It might be you draw legth as well.

haha seriously, ill post a picture of a little devistation the T3 did this weekend when i get home. and yes come visit. Itll be a few years till i understand the good places and how to hunt it.

aficianado- id be down to hunt lake sonoma. even got a 12 ft aluminum with a 7HP motor. only thing is i can drive another 30mins to my 14K acres. so maybe if its good this year we can meet up for a day.

Btw, for what its worth. This thread is the shit.

Welcome to this wonderful thread with a ton of information from all these fine people on TW :D

As far as the D-loop, yes that is what I am using. and YES you were correct that it was just a simple rotation of the loop to correct the twisting of my peep.

As far as how my peep was installed, he tied it using the small thread you speak of and then put a dab of glue on it so it would hold longer i assume??

Yeah it was glued, everytime I report back from my shop you disagree haha. and so far just about everything that you have stated I agree with! gluing in the peep i would assume have its plus but if it needs to be moved, its gonna be a blast getting it off! haha

It wasnt rotating too bad, I was just unaware of that simple of a fix. I will keep it in mind and was just drawing my bow back to see. and it just so happened that it was a QUICK FIX! haha Thanks for all the help, i truly appreciate it man! wish we could go huntin sometime! when you come down this way shoot me a PM and we can go shoot at the range by my house

How much does the string actually stretch?? they are suppose to come pre-stretched and I put atleast 150 arrows through my bow before I got the peep installed.. is it still going to stretch a noticeable amount??

I think I am good, going to go shoot for a little and see how the sight it lining up on my anchor point with my quick fix i made to the peep and d-loop.

I might be heading up that way for some fire department written exams so if I do I will let you know!

BTW I would have to agree that this thread is the shit! I get more excited about the email notifications on this thread then any other threads I belong to on TW hahah

ha nice. ya def try that 80 lber out. I cant shoot it cuz im a lefty, which is shitty. But then also he has 60-70 in both Hunters and the Answers. Also, ask him before about buying from somewhere else and having him set it all up. Im sure hell be fine with it, just dont know exactly his policy on bows that arnt bought there. just saying that cuz i know before he was open the other shop in SR were pricks about that. But im sure hell go through it and make sure its all tuned and set up your draw length and laser the thing so all teh rest and knock point is straight.

ya im just saying that i havent seen or heard of people Glueing in a peep. as long as its tied and tight, its on there.

bow copmanys say tehy come pre strectched, yes, but still, 100, 200, 300 shots and the strings are still going to stretch a little. sometimes a half inch, throwing off timing and draw lenght. But like people said, its just a simple twist to tighten which sides needed when its on teh press to fix that. i just twist my peep cuz i still like my draw and my timing is on.

Speaking of bowhunting, just make venison gyro's and have a batch of venison jerky in the dehydrator.

The season 60 days away! Can't wait

I live in ventura pretty close to the mall. I had to get the late season because my job won't let me leave out of cell service until later in the year. [IMG]

Yeah last year they didn't even sell all of them. I was going to just buy AO but I can't hunt until late November so this tag is perfect.

Nice, where do you go shooting? we should meet up sometime and hang out and shoot!

    Side note...

Started fletching my arrows yesterday and so far so good! bought some FFP 360's and goat tuff to apply them with. Holding up great so far! GF wanted me to get "red" which just so happened to be pink but its all good! Here is how they are looking. Went with the right helical bitzenburger jig as well...

Here are a few pictures that the GF took on her iPhone last night. What do you guys think of my form? anything I am doing wrong or need to do more that you can see in the pictures? please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated

Get a picture of your grip and some day light photos and we can start from there. Plus a shot from of you from the back

From what I can see it looks like your need to rotate you grip out a little more and try to get the bend out of your front arm.

Its def. Worth getting into. Most seasons for bowhunting are longer than gun season. I shoot a Quest G5 primal. Mathews is my favorite. Bow shop supplies me thats why Quest. Get fit for a bow and find one that feels best to you. Look for grip, you want it to feel natural. Weight and length are up to you. Since you're new to it look for a brace height over 7 inches. It will be more forgiving for you. Invest.in good carbon arrows and good sights, rest, and release. All in all it should run you about $450-750 for a naked bow. Plus $100 for sight $100 for rest $100 for a dozen arrows $50 for a release $25 for a stab. $10 for a peep sight $50 for case plus vibration dampeners.

i just recently got into hunting and where i live there are no archery shops to get set up. i have no friends who bow hunt or anyone else to give me any advice other than this forum. was searching online and found the guys at huntersfriend.com and cant say enough good things about them. never picked up a bow in my life but talked to them about what my draw length was, what my draw weight might be, nocking type, sight, let off, and just told them to set me up with what they thought would be the best with regards to arrows and everything else. they set me up with a past years closeout Martin Saber Magnum with 6 custom arrows, practice tips, broadheads, sight, rest, quiver, release, hard case and a bunch of other stuff and sighted it and tuned it for me and then shipped it to hawaii in a couple days. Was always put off by the cost of getting into archery but for 480$ it seemed like a really good deal. took the bow out for the first time today, first time actually in my life, and was shooting 3 inch groups at 20 yards. i dont know if thats good or not but i wasnt even expecting to hit the target. am pretty stoked. went back to 30 and 40 yards and was still hitting the target. if i had the opportunity i would have gone out and shot as many bows as possible and gotten setup locally but since i wasnt able to these guys at hunters friend came through in the clutch and i couldnt be happier.

thats pretty good man. its hard to find that kind of service. especially with how specific each bow has to be to its shooter. 3" groups at 20 for your first time is great. itll tighen up. member when sighting it in, Follow your arrow with your pins. IE, if your low at 30, move the 30 yard pin DOWN. it will in turn make you bring your bow a little higher when shotting.

I finally broke my release this weekend. same one i have had since i was 15. so im gonna go with the scott little goose. it was a tough decision between the shark and the little goose, but i like how skinny the neck is of the little goose. and i like how its a single caliper insted of dual caliper.

I havent had the time to shoot much this week unfortunately, but over the weekend I finally joined the archery club up the street from me. They have over 28 target with 3D's and everything. Some uphill and downhill shots at lengths up to 80 yards is what I was told. I know there is a target there that I can go out to 140 yards so I will sight in the rest of the way soon!

I will get pictures as soon as possible and thanks for everything guys!

when you are shooting up/down hill shots draw and get settled in like you where shooting on the level and then bend at the waist to get you pin on the target. This will help you avoid dropping or raising you bow are this messing up your form. If you dont bend at the waist you will most likely not hit what your aiming at.
