Also, What is everyone using to carry their bows in and out from hikes? I need to get something to carry it while im hiking in and out of the range and eventually hunting! Saw some guys with slings that looked pretty cool. What do you guys use and recommend I get?

I am getting my arrows cut to size tomorrow morning as well :D

And if the terrain your hiking and/or climbing needs the use of your hands to get up/over??

    getting there....
NAP Apache bow slings are nice and inexpensive. They also have quick connects which is nice. I may get one later....but the terrain round here aint bad.

Im not reading 21 pages so somebody might have already said it but Bowtech Assassin is an awesome bow for the money and it comes already set up ready to hunt with about $300 worth of accessories. I got one and love it the next thing I would get from that would be the Insanity or the Invasion but thats the big bucks but cant beat em for speed and quietness. Thats my 2 cents.

i have TWO of those primos bow slings. on today's short parallel limb bows, they dont fit that great..but they still work. might be a good option.

I dont use the bow slings. My thought is if im using a sling and the bow is behind me I cant get ready in a hurry if I just something and it gives me an opportunity. Also I would be worried about falling especially if the bow is slung around my back. If you fall on your butt thats alot of equipment to be falling on.

i cant imagine "jump shooting" any animal.

the bow sling allows plenty of time to get ready..i dont use it much tho. it makes a perfect string/cable protector when all my stuff is in my SKB case..and the entire rig is on some commercial airline.

Im not talking jumping an animal and shooting as it stands like rabbit hunting. But I have caught deer walking on the same trail I am on and I hardly had enough time to get and arrow nocked and drawn before it stepped out onto the trail I was on and stopped. Things happen very very fast sometimes and I would rather have my bow in my hand rather than on my back or in a sling. I know lots of people that have missed opportunites on game because they had their rifle on there shoulder rather than in there hand. As for traveling I keep my broadheads outside of my case if traveling in a vehicle or atlease in a seperate container if I was flying. I will never keep my broadheads in my bow case way way to much potential for damage.

hands. ha ive never used a sling, and couldnt even imagine wtf that would look like. I did attach it to my Badlands Diablo once though. only cuz i needed my hands to drag a pig to a more flat area. otherwise, everyone i hunt with, dont use anything but there hands to carry.

i put my broadheads in a case..pretty secure.

i never use my primos bowsling..i do like the string protection inside the case..i stuff it full of my camo gear. i also carry things in my hands.

this year..i am hiking far..i will stuff my bow on my pack..and use trekking poles..only when hiking. hunting the tools are in my hands.

I couldn't use a sling. I carry my stand in and out every time I hunt. And I've also seen deer standing on the same path as me. As soon as I get in the woods I have an arrow nocked and my release on my wrist. Never know whats gonna step out of the laurel in front of ya

I don't know if you've ever seen some of the terrain in central PA but I'm no flatlander. I have a brake on my wheelbarrow. The mountain laurel is 8' tall and you need one leg shorter than the other to walk side hills.

So, im gonna keep this thread going with new equipment, field tests, etc.

Shot a pig this weekend, 45 yards and a good downhill grade, in the neck. (i still get shaky with excitment, but missed in a good spot). The g5 t3 did its job, huge hole, bled like crazy. finally used the lumenok on an animal (burt coyote lumenok) and that worked like a charm. it was great to actually see the arrow fly into it, and stick out while it started to role.

i also canned the 7 year old release i was using, and bought a Scott Little Goose with the buckle, not velcro. but i fucking love it. the single caliber actually feels a tad smoother when it releases the d loop.

unfortunatly i didnt have a camera and my fone was dead, so i used my go pro with a flash light. did hold still enough so its a lil blurry. and the other one was back at camp. and i didnt look at the pics after my dad took them otherwise i woulda got a better pics.
