I think I posted a while ago that my son damaged one of the doors on the truck. Since then we've been on the hunt for replacements which has been more difficult than imagined. But we found some a few weeks ago from an '83 SR5 that had the vent windows. These had some dents and definitely weren't perfect but were a bit easier to get looking decent than fixing the originals. Filled some holes, sanded them down, small amount of body filler to smooth them over and more rattlecan paint. Finished them up over the weekend and got them installed. Overall turned out fine. The truck is so definitely NOT a show truck and there are still cosmetic issues all over the thing but for the most part it looks ok. :)

Also if anyone is looking for some sliders. I have a set that came with the donor Tacoma. 4xInnovations 60" sliders. The driver side will need new legs welded on but otherwise these are in excellent shape. No dents or anything, just some scratches on the paint. I'm looking for $150. Local pickup preferred but will ship on your dime.

Not sure how I forgot to post them here but a while back we tackled a few things on the interior of the truck. I got a full interior out of an early 90's truck that was in great shape. We swapped the seats in since they were better than the ones that were in the truck (put some seat covers on them to keep them clean). We did some minor modifications to the center console from the 3rd gen truck and got it to fit nicely. Also died it black and replaced the armrest with a new cover (the donor truck had blue interior). Pretty pleased with the result. Not a show piece by any stretch but comfortable and functional.

Another recent change was that I replaced the lightbar on my cruiser with a better quality one so the cheap lightbar needed a new home. It found its way to the pickup. We added a couple mounting brackets to the Thule bars on the roof and wired it up. Easy peasy.

    On another positive note......
we started this build over 2 years ago now for my oldest son who is now 18. When he was 1 I had a '85 pickup that I had started building. Had all the suspension done (5.5" custom alcan springs and bilstein shocks), hysteer etc. I built a flatbed for it because the stock bed was totally rotted away. The plan was to keep that truck for my son to drive when he was old enough. Circumstances forced me to sell it back in 2002. So when my son turned 16 we found him this first gen that I've documented in this thread. It was a way for me to return to the original plan of having an early pickup for my son to drive and learn to wrench on.

Fast forward, my second son turned 16 this past July. He's been riding with his brother mostly, but his brother will be headed to college soon and will take the truck with him. So we've been looking at options for him. Been looking at FJ40's (too expensive these days), 80 series cruisers (just haven't found the right one). Well, last week something popped up on the local classifieds that caught my eye. My old '85! The guy that bought it from me drove it for about 6 months, moved to Canada for work and parked the truck at his brothers. It sat there since mid-2002 until last year when a local kid bought it. He replaced the fuel filter and some hoses that had dried out in the sun, along with the tires that had dry rotted. Well I went to look at it yesterday. It is literally almost exactly the same as the day I sold it, except for the paint that is completely faded. It even has the same steering wheel cover on it that I put on it back in 2001. Total time warp to drive it yesterday! Well, I made an offer and it was accepted and I'm bringing the truck back home this afternoon! It was intended to go to my first son, but instead it's found it's way home and will be a project for my second son. Beyond stoked!

This is the last photo I have of it before I sold it with my son when he was 1. Don't make fun of my rad sandals, we were barely out of the 90's at that point. LOL
Look for a new thread to follow the resurrection of this one!

looks fantastic! any way I could get the widest dimension of that center console. I have aftermarket seas in my 86 and was going to build a center console.. but that looks damn nice! might be too wide tho.

I try to get a measurement when I get home. It's a narrow console, so might still work.

New rig is at the house. Got some work ahead to clean it up since it looks like its been stored in a tank of paint thinner for the past 15 years. :)

Nice truck! My dad got me an 82' last Christmas for my first car, and he is going to help me out too. I wish you luck on both your pickups, they are bad ass! :fistbump:
