    Hi Adam

I'm curious how your family evolved with you choice of vehicles namely the previous LC and the one featured in this build thread. My wife and I got married late but are expecting our second currently due in November, and hope to have 1-2 more. My wife is awesome and we took our son on 4 camp outs before he was 6 month old. Currently our Tacoma is our adventure vehicle but I'm pretty sure we will outgrow it as family vehicle. I like the idea of a LC80 or LC100 but time will tell as last year we had just gone to campgrounds that could be accessed with a minivan. This year we hopefully will do some trail camping. Being in Oklahoma means we have to travel a bit future for trails and adventures not involving mud but I'm fortunate to live in the NE part with close access to the Ozarks in Arkansas. I'm not currently working with the YM in our ward but have in the past and probably will again in the future. I'm just starting to explore my options for a future family rig now while I've got a couple years. I know you love the 80 series but I was curious what your experience was as your family grew. I've appreciated your thoughts and willingness to help others on this forum. Thanks in advance

The 80 is a great family rig, as is the 100 series. Both are extremely capable and reliable. Not much difference nowadays in terms of mileage and wear, but the V8 in the 100 series has smoother power delivery and feels a bit more "upscale" even though the actual horsepower is not much different than the inline 6 in the 80.

Both of them will seat 8 so they work awesome for families with more than a couple kids. One thing we found (that I'm sure you are figuring out too) is that kids, especially when little, require of ton of crap that you have to bring with you. Even though the cruiser has a lot of room we were quickly running out of space with our 4 kids and all the gear especially when our twins were small. Now that they are bigger and don't require as much "baby stuff" its not as bad. But that is also the primary reason I have my offroad trailer. I just plain needed the space so I could bring all the necessary stuff on the family trips.

We've done family trips in the Tacoma and it's a tight squeeze but we made it work. The Cruiser is definitely more comfortable. I'm a big fan.

I pulled the ComeUp winch off the cruiser last week and moved it to the Tacoma. It's a perfect fit on the Tacoma with the TG bumper and I've wanted a winch on the Tacoma for a long time.
    IMG_8871_zpsfvep2qxp_0c944af4df05621a63518921ebd0fcff3279d2f7.jpg

But.....that left a big void in the bumper on the Cruiser. So......I took delivery of another ComeUp winch this morning. The guys from ComeUp came and dropped it off to me in person on their way to the FJ Summit in Colorado. Such awesome service! It's the same SEAL Gen2 9.5 but this one has the wireless remote. Should have it installed in the next couple days and both trucks will be winch equipped.

Is the wireless remote the only way to operate the winch? I didn't see anywhere to connect a hard wire but maybe it just isn't pictured :notsure:

No it comes with a waterproof wired remote as well. You can see the "plug" on top of the control box.
