picked up some inexpensive seat covers as a "stop gap" until I can get the leather redone. Both fronts and the 2nd row.

Been scratching my head about where/how to mount my new HAM radio. My radio does not have a detachable face which makes installation a bit more difficult when trying to keep it discrete and not completely exposed and in the way.
    .
Couldn't use the stereo location since I have a double din unit. Already have a CB in the ashtray location, so.......
    .
I decided that it was worth some minor sacrificing of the center console since I don't use the front pocket of the console that much. I still have some room in the pocket but this made for a little cleaner install than the alternatives I had come up with.

That Kenwood is great radio too. I liked mine but the next one is getting a detachable faceplate for ease.

Hi sorry I don't know how to message you properly but I have been following both your landcruiser and Tacoma threads an I am now caught in a goo trap. I am trying to decide if I should keep my 04 taco or get a fully modded out lx450. I live in Canada and they are a bit uncommon and I woul imagine parts would be hard to find. I'm really just asking your advise as you have built both rigs as how I would like and thought since you had experience with both that you could steer me in the proper direction.
Thanks. Hope to hear from you.

It all depends on what you need the rig to do. What do you think the Tacoma doesn't have that you would get with a Cruiser?

Forgot to put these up here. I installed new front swaybar disconnects a few days ago and went to check clearances and brakelines etc. Front end is moving better and some nice flex gains. Front tire is 37" off the ground in these pics. I wasn't that far in the last set of pics even though I used the ramp in reverse. Haven't noticed any weird behavior on the road with the swaybar unhooked so I might leave it although it only takes a minute to hook it back up. Still running the stock rear sway bar.

Oh yeah, and I repainted the wheels and took them back to black. I gave the grey a chance but the black just looks better IMO.

So I recently picked up an FJ of my own. I was scouring and doing some reading trying to figure out what lift setup to go with and debating whether to fix the engine (head gaskets) or add some more fun LS type power. Anyways.. I didn't wanna be "that guy" on mud so I'm gonna ask a fellow TW member. Can you tell by looking at this pic what size lift this guy is running? I was thinking 4" but not sure. I'm hoping to use this as a goal for mine.

Looks like a ~4" -5" lift to me. My guess would be OME coils with some coil spacers to add another inch or two. If you can snap a pic or two of the coils/shocks I can probably tell you with some accuracy what it is. My cruiser was taller than it is now. It was somewhere around 5"-6" of lift with my OME J springs and 2" spacers. Now with the Slinky suspension its about 3.5" and I like it so much better. Keeping it a bit lower feels so much better in every situation and 35-37" tires can still be run easily.

    Before with 5" lift

    After with 3.5" lift

Well, the Mickey Thompson Baja Claws I've been running for the past year needed to find a better home. Overall I really liked the Baja Claw. They were really good offroad and the only performance issue was that they would tend to "push" in hard corners while going fast in the dirt. Just a bit more understeer than the MTR's I had before them. If my truck had been an offroad only truck I may have stayed with them because they did great offroad in my experience.
On the road they weren't bad but got very noisy as they wore. Also, I had a stretch where my toe was out of alignment and it caused the tires to start cupping. The cupping and wear on the outer edges of the tires was what caused me to notice and check the alignment. Because of the cupping, the tires also started to ride pretty rough. You could feel every lug hit the pavement when you were going at slower city speeds. I think the noise and cupping could have been avoided with ensuring the alignment was correct and with regular rotation.

But, they're on to another life on my son's minitruck. They still have life in them and will work great for my son for a while.

Got myself a new set this morning. Some love 'em, some hate 'em, but I've had good feedback from friends that have them around here and how they perform in Utah terrain so I decided I'd give these a try. If I don' t like them, I'll probably be back to the MTR's permanently. But one thing is for sure, I'll give these a proper thrashing. :) Cooper STT Pro. Stayed with the 315's.

Love my STT pros. Hot springs Arkansas gave them some cuts and took some outer chunks of the lugs but they have been great for me. Going to order another set soon.
