Dallas would certainly fit the bill. I used to live in Houston and have done the drive many times. Fly in Friday, be home by Sunday. What are the details?

I may be willing to sell my purple 2000 100 series pictured above.

 

An 80 on 35's will drive pretty nice with stock gears on the flats. My '93 was like that for the entire 15 years I owned it. I never felt the need to regear. Climbing steep canyons would slow it down some but 80s are slow already by today's standards so it wasn't that big of a deal. My current 80 has 4.88's and 35's and it does improve the driveability and making passes on the highway are easier. But again they're not fast trucks in terms of acceleration and overtaking power.

 

If you think his truck looks huge, I don't think you're gonna need 35's. His truck is a 2.5" OME suspension and basically a 33" tire.

Here's the best shot I've got to show it's size in comparison to my 80 on 35's.

 

I more so meant that the overall size of the vehicle looks huge crawling up the rocks. The tire size looks good, but I’ll probably shoot for 35s and do some trimming.

 

Adam, have you gone back to daily driving this thing?

 

Not exactly, but it still gets driven a lot. If I'm not driving it, my wife does a lot and my son will on occasion.

So the Icon centercap will fit the 80?

 

Only if you run wheel spacers.

 

Is that what you did? I’ve always thought that spacers put unnecessary stress on lots of parts. But those wheels look awesome. Wheels are one of my next year goals for my 80.

 

They should fit your Tacoma fine without spacers.

Spacers don't put any more stress on parts than a wheel with the same offset would. Spacers are fine as long as you use quality ones that have their own wheel studs and keep them torqued properly. I check the torque every time I rotate the tires. I also suggest keeping spacers as small as possible. Personally, I wouldn't run anything larger than 1.5".

 

I rarely care about wheels but those are pretty fantastic looking!

 

I have two 80’s. Tacoma is fine for wheels. One 80 only has a tick over 105k miles. My wife manages that one. Mine has 173k and it’s the toy. Needs wheels.
