About almost a year ago, I bought some 265/70/17 BFG ko2 tires in E load at my local tire shop. Today I was washing my truck and noticed that one tire was a load C. So I go around and inspect the rest of the tires. And guess what? They were all C load.
So I stand there to think if I really bought the C load tires and paid for E load. So I go in the house to find the reciept. As I'm going through it, I dicovered that they did charge me for the E rated tires.
I then take my receipt and head to my local tire shop and explain to them the dilemma I was having. Before I went in, I thought that they would refund me the diffrence and for me, that would have been good.
(THIS IS WHERE IT GETS GOOD)
The gentleman goes out to check to see if in fact that was the case. After inspecting my tires, I see him talk to his manager and he finally comes back and tells me that they did do a mistake, and that they would swap them out for the E load tires. He then expressed how sorry they were.
So before all this happened, I was already thinking about upgrading to 285's. So I asked if they would upgrade me to the 285's and I would pay the diffrence. And sure enough they did agree to do it. Since I was there I purchased a 5th tire for a spare.
Overall, I scored on some new tires. Never thought I would get lucky like this. 8347.jpg

LOL Nice! So not only did you get to upgrade in size, but you got to put miles on loaner tires for a year without paying for them. :)

This worked out very well for you.

I was thinking of naming the tire shop who went above and beyond for me, but unfortunately there are people out there who don't have integrity and take advantage. I will indeed write a letter to their corporate office and tell them how well I was taken care of

I did enjoy the 265's. They did handle good in rain, snow, and dirt. They are pretty quiet as well. As far me liking the 285's , I would say yes for now

How do the Load Range E tires ride? I've always been tempted to get a tougher tire, but I know the extra bulk can affect MPG and make for a clunkier ride.

Well they did end up selling you the 285s so did you really get lucky or did they?
Way I see it they would have done right and given you the tires you had paid for which is the right thing and they would have taken a hit for that. Once you decided to upgrade they recouped any hit from the error.

Still a good business as their willingness to do right kept you friendly and in the store and you bought bigger tires so in this case everyone benefitted.

The OP got the better end of the deal. It seems that they gave him full refund on used tires towards the difference of new larger size tires. Now they're stuck trying to sell a set of used tires. The shop could've pro-rated his tires but didn't.
