The video was funny, but the responses of some only make me shake my head. People are too willing to swallow the swill supplied by pravda, and have no clue of the bigger picture here.

First and foremost, BP was not the only player in this mess. There were layers of contractors and sub contractors in the drilling of this well. A LOT of heads need to roll in this mess - including within the ranks of the feds, not just BP.

Another failure came from government itself. There are layers upon layers of regulations already in place to prevent accidents like this. Our own government FAILED to enforce these regulations - most notably with the current administration, who coincidentally got a huge payoff from BP during the elections.

Another contributing factor is the environmentalists. God forbid that we continue to develop shallower waters where problems like this can be dealt with relatively quickly.

Finally, those who are screaming need to look within. Your mad and you're driving a 4x4 V6 TRD truck? I'm not being judgmental on the choice of vehicles, as I own one that will only get 8 mpg on the best of days, but if you are that concerned, then maybe a more efficient vehicle should be in the stable?. How many people here are willing to slow down from 70 -80 mph to 55 mph, where we can CUT demand for gasoline by 20% overnight? The reality is that consumer demand played its own part in this mess.

If you REALLY want to get mad at someone, get mad at our government who is STILL stonewalling on getting desperately needed materials to the area to contend with the disaster, and who has TURNED AWAY help from other nations who have equipment that is proven to be capable of cleaning up this mess.

The reality is that there WAS an anti-blowout valve on this well. The purpose of that valve is to shut down the flow in the event of an accident. This valve failed to operate, and was later destroyed when the rig sank.
