Brady and Mark's Spring Break Week of Wheeling

Brady (Bradyt88) came to Boise for spring break and we did a ton of wheeling many shenanigans, and broke stuff. I bet I got stuck more in the last 4 days than I ever had before this week. We got ourselves into some pretty hairy and tricky situations, that took some work to get out of. But it all buffed out in the end and I had a bad ass week! Tons of fun! Thanks for coming out man, see ya in a couple months for moab!

hahaha of course! about every time!

so that was really brady's first time riding motorcycles, and we went through sand washes and some single track and back on the main trails around the area.

funniest thing when I was teaching him the basics in front of my house that morning. we were going over basic clutch/throttle control and his first time getting going he lets the clutch out, grabs a hand full of throttle and almost heads on my trash can and his rear bumper. My heart stopped for a couple seconds

it was fun for the first half. driving in reverse up a narrow slush covered forrest service road on the side of a cliff stopped being so much fun initially. Some REALLY hairy moments there. we were planning our plans B and C about the time I was 6" from losing my truck.

I will say though, my 35x12.5s at 7 psi were a freaking dream. oh my god those things floated and gripped so well, it was fun! Biiiig difference from 15 to 7psi haha

brady saw a trick where you put a strap around the tire and it pushed the center down and the bead out enough to inflate it...we tried over and over and spent almost an hour screwing around with that tire before we got it to seat and hold air. lots of kicking and readjusting were done. Brady had never actually done it before, so we were just kind of winging it

 

The Wheeling looks like a blast

One of the oldest tricks in the book, used it a few times myself.

 

Probably to help coax the tire bead back onto the rim.

It's really useful, even in a shop environment (i've used it several times on quad tires), it was something my Grandpa taught me.

 

good luck. it didnt really work as planned with my mts...it caved in a portion of the tread instead of pulling in the middle. not sure if it only really works on at type tires without huge tread blocks

 

It works best if you can increase the volume of air quickly. I've seen it done with some lighter fluid too. When you light it off, the air heats up in the flash and expands quickly, poping the bead on.

A high rate compressor or a CO2 system can do it too.

 

Didnt think it would help with that tiny strap haha. Maybe 2" strap would do it.
