Sounds promising! Unplugging it may simulate a cold reading.

Ect would of been my next guess....
    then leaky evap system....
    and finally stuck egr......

You still may have other hidden issuses.....

    Check your coolant....and often

worst scenario...... got a crack between valves,.....or head gasket issue....

Well, I'll be dipped. It makes sense. Should have been caught on a diagnostic scan though. It pays to have a 400 dollar one and know how to use it.

Awesome thanks! My new sensor is supposed to be here on Tuesday so I'll update this thread on if that was the fix!

So got the new coolant temp sensor in and it helped but still has hard starts. Starts up fine when it's all the way cold and starts up fine when it's at running temperature but hard starts in between. Figured ill just drive the truck until it craters because I'm done throwing money at it ha

If the ECT sensor cured the cold start, but you are having luke warm start issues, it sounds like you have multiple problems and have now fixed one.

If you wanted to continue to pursue it, my next bet would be camshaft position sensor, followed by crank position sensor. Not Toyota, but you might find this post interesting:

Thanks! I am also going to take it to a shop that can run live data on it and see if they can pick anything up

At this point I’d take it to a Toyota dealer if you haven’t already.

My Toyota dealer service manger said Her Service techs would be clueless on a vehicle more then 10 years old .
If you have a good person close That might be better.

    Good Luck.

Now that I've had the truck for a few days and driving it I hooked my code reader up and I have 3 pending codes P0440, P0441, and P0446 so all evap codes. Could those have something to do with it having the slow, weak, or hard starts? I have replaced the vapor canister purge valve under the hood because it was easy to get to so im assuming the charcoal canister itself is probably shot. If it was summer and I didn't have 5 feet of snow sitting in my yard id just pull the bed and mess with it haha.

I was looking at my charcoal canister as good as I could and noticed a small hose wasn't attached to the tank vent valve. What is this and does it really matter?

I know I just keep adding to this and really am getting no where but tonight I unplugged the ECT sensor and the truck starts right up every time and just idles at 750 rpm just throws a check engine light, then as soon as I plug it back in and try to start it up (while the temp gauge needle is still on cold) it just cranks and cranks stumbles and finally starts and idles up to 1200 ish rpms with no check engine light. It has a brand new ECT sensor and is doing the exact same thing as the old one was doing. So how bad is it to run without it plugged in? Truck sure seems to like it a lot better without it ha.

well as bad as I hate to say it I'm thinking its a head gasket leak causing all this. I finally got it to throw a cylinder 6 code. I started it cold and looked in the coolant overflow and it was blowing bubbles. Once it got warm it quit blowing bubbles so I'm assuming it is a small leak. It's not getting into my oil as of right now. I had the engine rebuilt 20,000 miles ago so hopefully it'll be covered under warranty but I'm betting the engine shop will have a "gaskets" section and probably will say your S.O.L. cause that's pretty much how everything goes for me with vehicles it seems like. So then I guess I'll decide if I'm going to dump however many thousands of dollars into that repair on top of the $6,000.00 I spent to have the motor re built or just dump some liquid head gasket it and hope for the best. I ordered the tester that the liquid changes colors if it sees exhaust in the coolant so guess we'll see later this week for sure.
