I just replaced front pads and rotors on my 05 Tacoma. The backing plates were very rusted. I have looked for replacements, but the best price I have found is about $85 a piece. Any ideas on where to find these cheaper, or should I just not worry about replacing. I know they don't do a whole lot, but know it would look so much better with new ones. Just don't want to spend that kind of money for them. Thanks.

If they aren’t rusty with holes, just sand down really good and spray paint with a good quality paint with rust inhibitors and your good to go.

They aren't called backing plates. Those are in the rear.

The fronts are called splash shields or dust shields.

You have to remove the wheel bearings to remove the splash shields. I wouldn't worry about it til you need wheel bearings. Then just glass bead blast them and paint them.
