I purchased a 21 DCSB TRD OR a few months back and the brakes feel consistently 'grabby' to me. Almost at 5000 miles now, no changes.

Up to this point I have not experienced the need to apply significant pressure to stop the truck ...

I think the brakes are a bit "grabby" on newer Tacomas, compared to other vehicles we have. I bought my wife a '18 DC TRD OR 4x4, back in August, and we both noticed the brakes having a noticeable, initial "bite" that can be tricky to modulate. She has gotten used to it and no longer mentions. I picked-up a '20 DC TRD OR 4x4 about 2 weeks ago and the brakes feel exactly the same.

I have very few complaints with my 2021 - I love the thing, but the brakes was my #1. The stock brakes on these trucks are garbage wrt to consistency and outright stopping power. Honestly Toyota should be ashamed. When I checked, an F150 stops shorter, and weighs as much and in many cases more. I think these would be categorized as "adequate" on the tacoma which for me was "unacceptable".

Too many mods and I haven't even started yet..
I have a 2019 Pro and I LOVE these brakes. They feel like a really good racing brake system with street pads. They have a positive bite high in the pedal with good modulation. These definitely do not feel like your average brakes. Honestly, I've had sportscars with brakes that didn't feel as good as these.

What I have noticed is that the pads like some heat in them. Since we're talking about trucks that are designed with a 5600GVWR and a 6500lb towing capacity, it would make sense that Toyota would spec a brake compound that likes heat, much like a racing pad. Long runs on the highway would let them cool way down and you don't get good bite until they heat up. This may be why they feel like they grab more as you're coming to a stop, or why they seem more grabby at some times and less at others.

My daily is a 2017 Corvette Z06/Z07. Carbon ceramic brakes. The Tacoma brakes feels nothing like those at any point in the braking process :D

I'm quite sure carbon ceramics feel like nothing else.

I also have this issue, high initial bite, then some lack of braking in the middle followed by really grabby at the end at low speeds. Was at off road school with 2 pedal crawling and was impossible to be smooth crawling over rocks even crawl control was jerky. Dealer said "no issue"
