Removed booster to check gasket and wanted some feedback. Symptoms: truck has to run at least 10/15 minutes to have a normal feeling pedal. If I start truck and drive immediately the pedal is mushy but still barely has enough stopping power. Pedal makes squeaking noise when pressing or depressing. I’ve changed about every other breaking component in the last few years. This all started with a shudder while driving and some of you helpful lads told me to start with brakes. PO admitted that his son ran the truck for a long time with basically no brakes and was using the damn E brake and regular brakes to stop so I’m guessing that put a lot of stress on breaking system. I’ll attach some pics of booster. I do see a little fluid around gasket but the four bolts were tight as they should be but doesn’t mean gasket isn’t shot. I’m going to clean up any rusted areas but I don’t see any rust that’s deep enough to cause leak. Thanks for any advice

That gasket only seals the booster to the firewall to prevent water intrusion into the cab it does not seal vacuum. Most likely the diaphragm inside has failed and is allowing vacuum to leak by internally.

Ok, thanks. Going to clean everything up and put it back together and if it still is acting a fool I’ll just get another booster. This is my back up truck so go reman or just cut a hole in floor pan and stop it flintstones style.
