Took it to Toyota, they told me they couldn’t try to bleed it because my rear drum bleeder was seized. Paid a decent bit for that part and Toyota still wasn’t able to bleed them. I ended up going to oreillys and picking up some remanufactured calipers for $90 a piece after a core deposit from my old parts. Installed them both in like an hour and bled it myself in around 10 min. It was 100% the LC Engineering calipers that were faulty and cheap oreillys parts saved the day.

    You are correct!
Les Schwab has been going down hill ever since Les passed away and the family got greedy.

My mom just got a quote the other day from Schwab for rear brakes on her 98 Jetta @ $779. They where going to put reman calipers on and charge her for new ones. No core refund. I had her call and ask why the calipers need replaced. They told her they just do it on high mileage vehicles.

Then the rotors they were going to use they wanted $97 each, but I can source the same ones for $22-$35 all day long.

I ordered everything up to do the whole thing myself with higher quality parts and will evaluate if the calipers actually need replaced while I'm in there. If not, I will return the ones I ordered.

Yup I agree definitely not the go to for brake work. They told me the bleeder screw that Toyota replaced was not seized and they opened it the week before. Sounds like they never touched it to me and the Toyota techs.

No problem, hopefully this helps someone to not have to go through all the headache I did!
