Has anyone installed a trailer brake controller on a 2016 yet? I have a limited with the tow package and cannot find the connector under the driver side area. I have removed the kick panel and there are no visible loose connectors. Any tips on finding it would be appreciated.

Thanks Spadefeet. I've ordered a Tekonsha P3 and the 3017P pigtail to plug it in. I found the connector hidden behind the black mesh wiring loom. Toyota didn't provide much slack - less than 2" for their end for the connector.

The 3017-P pigtail with the Tekonsha P3 worked fine. I decided to mount it in the pigeon hole above the AC power switch. The panel pops out with a screwdriver. I disconnected the existing leads to the switches, took it to the workbench and made a slot in the back of the plastic to allow the power lead to reach through. The P3 can be pushed in (it's tight) and stays put without anything else.

How far does it protrude out? Could you snap a side pic?

@iyapysnf It sticks out 2 1/4". That's as far as it can be pushed in because there is a manual brake lever on the bottom of the controller. You can see the pivot point in the picture against the cubby hole.

Does anyone know if the connector for the brake controller is still present on trucks WITHOUT the tow package? I would imagine Toyota only makes a single wiring harness for the Tacoma, but...

In my '09 and my Tundra there were many things wired up, you just had to buy the accessory (heated mirrors, heated tow mirrors, etc.). I'm pretty sure it's a single harness. Makes sense to increase accessory sales...

edit, meant to add. That's a great spot. On my '09 and the Tundra I just screwed the bracket into the dash as low as I could get it and keep it relatively level.

I am a first time Tacoma owner. I towed a 26 ft 4400 lb Jayco Jay Flight trailer with my Honda Ridgeline for 8 years. It did a better job than a base F-150 V8. I’m hoping my new Taco is up to the task. Just picked up these Dometic Brand Aero 3 clamp on tow mirrors. Tested the driver side mirror today. It shakes a bit at highway speed( tested at 120 kph here in Canada) but I like where and how they attached. My other tow mirrors were the type that hooked into your door and strapped down.

I have/use the same mirrors. Good set.. I clamped them to the top of the mirror. No real functional difference. They held on without needing to be tightened at all during a 2500 mile trip pulling a 2400# camper. They DO vibrate a bit at freeway speeds... but I doubt any clamp on mirror would be any better. I'd recommend them!
