Wanting to replace my dust shields, they’re rotted out pretty bad. How easy are they to remove without removing the hub? I was thinking of using a cutoff wheel to cut the new ones in half so I can get them bolted on without hub removal.

They bolt on with the 4 hub bolts. No way to get them on or off with out removing the hub.

Removing the hub isn't that hard. I have a BBK setup so I no longer have my dust shields:D

Watch a few Tacoma wheel bearing replacement videos. The dust shield is sandwiched between the wheel bearing and the spindle/knuckle using those four bolts.

If the miles are high on your current wheel bearings, it would be a good opportunity to replace them, since the amount of work is exactly the same.
