You're gonna have to replace the end or splice in a wire if there's enough there.

This company is gonna kill someone

It's late and I'm a few glasses in so I'm being smart and NOT working on the truck.. however I did go have a look.. the actual wires themselves do not appear damaged. Just the insulation. No burn marks or arch scares I can see tonight. Tomorrow I'll do some basic (electrical tape) repairs to see if I can patch the issue before I go into more permanent solutions like rewire that section and modify the fuse box mount.

    Exactly.

It’s also important because there are actual electric brake boosters, and they’re very different than Toyota’s hydraulic booster.

I'd engage the crawl control a couple of times.

Glad I found this thread, have the same OE panel and haven't installed it yet.

Looks like the edges need chamfered prior to paint and install (just another excuse to be lazy and put it off!)

True. Still, how many lives have been lost to this bracket? It’s sad to think.

Scary shit right there. You'd think the ones that bought these would be informing the manufacturers and/or retailers.
I'm always skeptical of aftermarket components, not that they're all bad, but most simply do not go through rigorous, if any testing. I know that's gonna piss off TW.

With no electricity the brakes don't function at all even with a lot of pedal pressure? So no brakes if the engine dies on the highway? That would be a crazy design. With vacuum assist systems it just take a lot of pedal pressure but the brakes still work if the engine dies.
I don't think I would want a braking system like that.

As long as the battery isn't dead and the ignition switch is on the brakes would have power.

They still function, just very poorly. They give you a handbrake so you don’t go off a cliff or into oncoming traffic.

Cars are reliant on electric systems these days, like it or lump it. The straight facts is cars and trucks are more reliable than ever, even though they have become more difficult to work on. I hardly ever see anyone broken down at the side of the road anymore. This modern shit is durable and works great if you don’t fuck with it and install janky aftermarket crap like we all do.

I feel like this needs to be said: your hand brake is not an emergency brake. It's a parking brake. When you engage it, there is a light on the dash that says "park" not "emergency." If it were for emergencies, they wouldn't put it on a ratcheting lock, it would be more like the hand brakes used in drift cars so you could modulate pressure to the pads. Plus, if it were really for emergencies, why on earth would they pipe it to the rear wheels that only account for approximately 20% of braking power? Locked up tires = no control. And what about cars with electronic parking brakes? If you're rolling, they won't engage if you hit the button.
