This may be the issue that I can't find an answer for, with people I know or my "awesome" googling skills.

The bracket rubbed through the insulation of the wire into the brake booster. some small spark burns can be seen on the bracket, which is now cut and removed. Since the metal wire itself looks fine and undamaged, I simply rapped it in electrical tape to insulate it until a permanent repair can be done. Fuses have been check, all are good. Makes me worry it's internal damage. I'm grew up on carburetors and simple hydraulic systems, this shit is all new to me. My s2000 is a hell of a lot more mechanical than this truck.

From what i can find both on the fuse box covers themselves and the interwebs, the braking system has one fuse (ABS under the hood).

You didn't "patch" it. You removed the short and reapplied insulation. Without looking more closely at it or testing the wire, nobody knows the electrical integrity of it.

Edit: If the portion that rubbed through is suspect, it needs to be cut out and the wire spliced. Hopefully there is enough wire off the plug to do so. This would be the temporary fix.

Someone that is electrically inclined and has the parts needs to repin the plug or find a replacement plug. This also assumes the existing run of wire is long enough. I don't know if this is tied into a larger harness. I would want to avoid having to change out an entire harness. Some people might be fine with having a splice in this wire, but considering how critical it is, I personally wouldn't.

I'm guessing a fuse did blow. If you have evidence of arcing, you had a short. It likely blew a fuse and you just haven't found it.

    fuck me I'm blind.....

I found the 30A ABS fuse and that's because apparently I'm blind as a damn bat. Just found the 50A (two whole fuses away) that is blown.

LMAO, as I search for more, are there any? external-content.duckduckgo.com.jpg

You found a blown fuse then that’s your problem. But if your wire isn’t fixed properly you will blow a new fuse you put in there

I had some good luck finding a connector here after one of my connectors in my Waverunner corroded: https://www.corsa-technic.com/

But I agree with you. For a failure like this, I would likely go with a whole harness if it's sliced through enough.

Yes. I'll pick up some extra fuses and then pull out my ohm meter and reteach myself how to test this wire. SHTF right now so money is tight, trying to find the correct fix but also spend as little as possible.

    Thanks!

It only sliced through the insulation. Would this really require a whole new harness?

I don't know the gauge of that specific wire, but it clearly made contact with some metal hence the arc. Maybe just one strand of copper. It's likely fine, the way you describe it but I would have an electrical expert look at something that important.

No, but you should cut out that section of wire as it’s likely burnt where it shorted. You could then get a new pin for that connector for that wire and splice in a piece of wire with new pin attached into that connector.

De-pin & heat shrink? Depends on how bad the wire is
