I thought the issue was air in the lines so I bleed out the lines. Brakes felt ok till I turned on the truck and I could hear an air sound and had complete brake loss.

From what you describe, is sounds like the power brake booster went away.

    Good luck.

If the pedal feels hard and no brakes then it's your brake booster. Mine made an air whooshing sound when it failed also. Toyota OEM boosters are discontinued so you'll need to go aftermarket.

Just out of curiosity I checked prices. Wow, I think I'll start reading my booster a bed time story every night in order to keep it happy!

Looks like RockAuto has O'reilly's beat, even with shipping. Esp on the new part price. Didn't find one on Amazon.

Bad news if you buy reman, I guess you also have to pay shipping for core return. That might bring the two stores pretty close on the reman price.

I was afraid it was going to be the more expensive and cumbersome part to replace. Thanks guys I appreciate it.

I think the OEM booster had a list price of $1200, and an online price of $800. Makes me kind of happy it's discontinued so I didn't have to make that decision.

Consider doing the brake master cylinder at the same time. You have to take it off anyway, and if it's 20 years old at this point, it could go soon. Or buy the rebuild kit for it at least and change the seals.
