So my battery died the other night and I replaced it the following morning. As I was leaving for work my brakes were super sensitive. I barley pressed the brake pedal and it broke my neck. I drove for a few days like this just adapting to the new touchy feel. The brake fluid is at the full line and there are no visible leaks from the hoses or ABS module. Tonight on my way home from work I made a stop at a drive through and my brakes completely locked up. I pulled into a parking spot and while the truck was running unplugged the vacuum line at the booster and plugged it back and it seemed to fix it. They unlocked and the pedal felt like it usually felt. 2007 v6 2wd 4door long bed. I never tow it's just a get me to work and home truck. Any ideas?

I bout the truck used in 2016 and it did this shortly after. I replaced the brake booster with a rebuilt Ebay unit and now it's doing doing almost the same thing except this time it will pass the basic booster tests like firm up after a few pedal pumps and also go down a little after start up. But the fact that the brakes apply on the highway and only unplugging the vacuum instantly un locks them narrows it down to def a faulty booster no?

    Suspect for sure.

eBay would not be my go to for significant safety parts.

So this rebuilt unit lasted five years without any issue. The check valve is good, there are now vacuum leak sounds, the truck idles and drives fun until I unplug the vacuum of course to unlock the brakes. I never had this many issues with a booster before it's insane and I can't even think of the odds or percentages. I think I want to just pay the price and get a OEM replacement from Toyota any thoughts?

you have to look to see if you have stability control, theres only a few variances and the price adjusts accordingly

its not a "switch" its an ECM function for your truck. Call that number and input your VIN and it will tell you

Yea I went to O-Rileys last time and prepaid, waited a week, took off work planning to install and after a week without any word I call them up and they tell me oh sorry we cannot get that part and it was an error in our system that lead our cashier to believe they could order it. Left me kinda salty with them.

Just got off the phone and gave my VIN and the operator basically said it looks like a traditional booster that's what it is and if I had any other options it would look non standard and have modules attached lol The picture of the part you sent from Auto Zone and the Rock Auto look like the two boosters I had installed.
