My 4 door 2w. Tacoma has 393,000 miles. Never had brake issues until last 5,000 miles. After replacing both front calipers, rotors, pads, rear drums, and shoes twice, I took it back to the mechanic. The truck drives smooth and brakes smooth for a few hundred miles, but gradually gets worse with rear end jumping up and down and now my drums are warped the 3rd time. I saw the discussions and I do not ride brakes or haul loads. I asked mechanic this third time if wheel bearings or LSP and Bypass Valve are the culprit, but he said he had checked this already. I have put all 393,000 miles on myself with no engine trouble. Does anyone have a suggestion of what else has been overlooked? I want to make it to 500k miles with this truck!!

Are you properly bedding the brakes when the new ones go on? You can only do it so well for the drums, but it should be done. And while the brakes are cooling don’t have the parking brake engaged.

odd sounding, but maybe your proportioning valve is clogged or brake master cylinder is leaking when applying the brakes. IE its pushing most of the fluid to the rear and thats whats skipping. on normal operation the front takes most of the stopping power, then the rear takes up the rest.

also, different vehicle but my brake booster had a leak and was constantly pushing the brake, I thought the front was going to shake itself to pieces. Then my calipers were smoking hot...
